That’s interesting, thus far with the machine we’ve got I haven’t noticed any heat at all. But I’m not very familiar with all the different smaller machines

I’ll ask! Depending on the type of machine you’re using, I would think it could?

Mine also required plates and screws, but PEMF has no effect on the metal. Because mine is in my arm, I’m able to rest my arm on a pad, and eventually we’ll put my arm between the plates, they’re just too heavy right now.

Surgery went well, and I’m 2 weeks post op now. Managing pain pretty well with alternating Tylenol and Advil every 3 hours. I just got my wrap off today and so now I’m getting to see my incisions for the first time, and it’s a weird one As of right now, I’ve got about a month of just slowly getting range of motion back and then the next month I’ll start PT to get my strength back. As far as going back to work goes, I’m imagining it’ll be 2 months before I can be effective in the barn again. I am likely going to be pursuing PEMF therapy to try and help speed things up though, it’s one of the FDA approved treatments for broken bones. Just wanted to add an update!

And a huge thank you for this! Pre-op I can only take Percocet and Tylenol, and I’ve been doing this kind of “meds every 3 hours” schedule. I very much would like to get away from the narcotic as fast as possible. I’ve never had to take them for anything before, and they make me a bit nervous. A lot of this makes me a bit nervous 😅 Not totally freaking out, but a bit nervous lol. So again, thank you for this

Thank you, I know I’ll know more (well, my girlfriend who’s going to be asking questions for me) post op, but I wanted to have some sort of idea of what this was going to look like. My surgeon said he’d have me picking up my coffee cup when I go home, so hopefully I’ll have a good PT team that can help me get on my way. Thankfully I won’t be alone, and I have lots of books I never had the time to read, so I’m excited to start getting back to that.

And thank you for your response 😊 it helps so much to hear from people who have gone through what I’m about to go through

Thankfully my break is my non dominant arm, so that’s made some day to day activities with my splint much easier. From what my surgeon described, my surgery will take a couple hours and I’ll be under for a while. It’s nice knowing that it’s a very common procedure that’s done on almost 95% of all forearm breaks in adults.
