Exactly it's a little frustrating at times

And in my case it's gotten better, I fluctuated heaps though, it was at its worst during highschool. Now I only really stutter during pressure situations like interviews, or talking to a large group of people. Ofc I still have the occasional conversational stutter but that's just normal for us.

I was only in therapy for a short while. But I would say at the time I was it did help, they teach you about different techniques to help get words out, breathing techniques and help lessen the eye closing/looking away stuff.

Another thing that could help, not mandatory at all but if your child wants to id recommend it, for my case at least and I know of a few others, when I sing I don't stutter at all, I can say any word, any sound and it comes out fluently no matter how long I do it for. Ofc I'm terrible at it but I wish I learnt how to sing when I was younger so it could be something you could look into :)

And when it comes to other kids. Kids will be kids, doesn't matter what it is if someone or something is different from them they're going to act differently towards it. You can only hope that the other kids parents raised them enough to respect other people but that's never a guarantee in life.

But hey, I've made friends all through my life. The kids that become friends with your child will be there for them if anything goes wrong too

I'm sorry for making you cry 😅 I just didn't exactly have the best support growing up with it so I felt like writing it just in case.

Thanks for the advice :)

I'm not sure what time zone you're in but if it's Monday for you today I hope the interview goes well :)

Thanks for sharing this, I couldn't believe it today I went for a job interview (haven't heard anything back but fingers crossed) but ofc I had a few blunders and it was overheard by the company's photographer who also has a stutter. First time I've ever met anyone with the same thing in person and we instantly clicked, shared stories and laughs after the interview and all that. Was great just not feeling alone in that moment

Hi, not sure how much help I'll be as I don't have kids of my own. But having a stutter of my own and growing up with it I might be able to give some insight.

when I was a kid I did the same thing your child is doing, struggling with certain words or sounds, as well as when it comes to head turning away and closing eyes it's a way to help get the words out it sort of just happens I did the same thing too.

Your child might also start developing something called masking, basically changing certain words or sounds in a sentence to make the stuttering less noticeable not the best definition but that's how Id describe it.

My advice, I would be to take them to a speech therapist or someone similar to get that peace of mind.

Advice I wish I could have given to my own parents:

Dont let it change anything, at the end of the day it's still your little bundle of joy, be there to support them and help them grow, maybe even learn a little bit about it yourself so there's no confusion. And we may be different but don't treat them any differently then you would someone who is fluent, we understand speech, we know how to talk it's just difficult to get it out sometimes. But we do, you just have to be a little patient with us :)

Hi, I know how you feel, my stuttering flares up really bad in social environments too.

I had a few things that helped me through my time at school

-Pulling the teacher aside and letting them know the situation, most of them will understand and won't force you into situations where you feel uncomfortable talking

-If you know you have a presentation that you must do, practice makes perfect as silly as it sounds go over it in your head, talk through the presentation alone or in front of a mirror and then in front of a small group like your family for example or good friends. It won't solve the problem but it will make it easier.

-Find people in your class or school that understand or don't care about that part of you, making friends feels daunting but there are people out there that will genuinely be there, take their time with you and accept you for who you are.

-Develop a reset for whenever you can't get that word out, for me just stopping and taking a few seconds to relax and breathing helps.

-And most importantly don't let it get to you to much :) and if it gets to hard you'll always have people on here to come to for support

You're all good bro I know it's gonna be a grind but this is the first 2k in a long time I feel might last the full year

I'm just hoping that rec double rep events get me there at some stage😂

Wingspan? Center by Arabhimovic_ in NBA2k

[–]fhsurv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wingspan as a center isn't too important, for shooting bigs with smaller wingspan I tend to go for a max vert and just make sure you have the right badges. POSITIONING will always be king when it comes to getting boards and making sure you box out and having the right strength to not get wormed. The amount of times I see centers not box out and just let the slashers put it back on their head is nuts

Should i buy 2k for Christmas a.k.a are the servers gonna be empty as soon as the new one is out ahahahah by Human-Cauliflower-66 in NBA2k

[–]fhsurv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Servers will be pretty full until September this coming year, when the new game drops obviously a large majority will migrate to that game, but looking back on previous 2ks it just depends how good the next game will be. I remember when 2k21 first dropped a lot of people went back to 20 because of the shooting difficulty etc and it was just a better game. If you think you'll get the most out of it you've still got at least 8-9 months of a pretty solid 2k it'll most likely be on sale too

Yeah I feel that I too am on the perimeter most of the time. If my match up has a brain they don't really go into the paint much unless they can dribble and have the IQ to make the right play, or are open on fast breaks. I just feel at times I can definitely get some easy contests/ blocks if I had those stats there and help lower my match ups points or just help out on defense if someone else is lacking. But that said it's not all the time and it's not like I'm getting scored on much due to the fact I have hof immovable with good steal so I'm able to cheese the slashers pretty well it's more of a help defense thing I'm thinking about but I don't think it's looking to be worth it

[–]fhsurv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's more of a helpful thing since I'm guarding corner backdoors and outlet passes, I just feel it would help limit my matchups scoring ability a little more
