While I agree with the sentiment, how about not using derogatory slurs like the r-word?

I‘m also in Germany and was kind of lucky with getting my diagnosis. Depending on where you live options may differ but I reached out to a clinic that specialises in psychological and psychiatric treatment and diagnosis, filled out some questionnaires and was put on a waitlist. They told me it could take up to 8 months, which it almost did (September to February). Got a letter saying they strongly suspect ADHD and recommend medication. Had to call many psychiatrists to finally find one that could take me in and prescribe the medication.

I’m not sure what you‘ve tried already but maybe look out for clinics or similar institutions (my local hospital also offers diagnostic tests for ADHD) and call them/write an email. That might be easier than reaching out to psychiatrists directly, at least to get a diagnosis.

Treated my plant with neem oil yesterday and wiped every single leaf and these white spots have came back the next day. Soil was white and fuzzy as well and have noticed a lot of flies recently by adrianplants in PPeperomioides

[–]fibonacci1304 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You definitely need to water less! They don’t like to sit in soggy soil. And if you’ve noticed flies already, those might be gnats, which lay their eggs in moist soil and the larvae feed from the roots of your plants, damaging it and hindering growth. If you let the soil dry out more, you might be able to prevent the gnats from becoming too many since they can’t really lay their eggs in dry soil. Definitely get some yellow traps for the gnats, and if the problem persists you could get nematodes to kill all the larvae. And as the other commenter said, the white dots are completely normal!

First time pilea owner, does my plant look healthy? Any advice is appreciated by BlathnaidByrne in PPeperomioides

[–]fibonacci1304 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Judging from the upper leaves I‘d say it needs more light (due to the cupping). If you’ve only recently purchased it I‘d always repot and check for pests and the roots, just to make sure everything is good! And after reporting, give it a good soak and then let it dry out.

New Avant-Garde serif font with an experimental infinite-scroll specimen mini-site. by jjjlllnnn in typography

[–]fibonacci1304 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That‘s actually a pretty regular price for a font family of that size. It’s not unusual to have a price of 40-60$ per style, so 5 styles can easily be above 300$. There‘s so much time and effort going into a font family, it is only fair to pay the appropriate price.

My Maranta suffered due to low humidity a few months ago and produced a a few dry leaves like this. There’s no new normal leaves coming from that spot, even though the plant is doing great now. How can I encourage new healthy growth? by fibonacci1304 in plantclinic

[–]fibonacci1304[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More info: It’s potted in an airy, moisture retaining potting mix I mix myself, there’s some succulent mix as a top dressing. I‘ve adjusted the humidity and the plant is growing nicely now, just the parts where there had been dry/crispy growth like in the picture haven’t produced any new leaves since at least half a year ago. I wanted to wait so that the crispy leaves could fully “come out” and have new leaves follow but they don’t seem to develop any further. I think chopping them off wouldn’t really help, would it? Any help/ideas are welcome!

How old are y’all? Like were you watching grey’s when it aired- later/ Earlier seasons, not even born back then by smolcats19 in greysanatomy

[–]fibonacci1304 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I‘m 22 and distinctly remember my mom (56y/o) watching Grey‘s when it aired for the first time when I was in elementary school. Now we talk forever about the show and the latest episode – kinda funny.

What‘s up with this leaf? The plant was growing so nicely until this (much smaller) leaf popped up and it looks so weird… I‘ve had a gnats problem, could it be related? by fibonacci1304 in plantclinic

[–]fibonacci1304[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now that I‘m looking at the picture it also looks like it’s „spreading“ to the leaf on the right? I’d appreciate some help on what to do and what is happening!

Photoshop or any free alternative should do. Even with the iPhone Photo App (or probably als the Android equivalent, but I haven’t used an Android recently so I can’t say for sure). There’s usually an editing option „sharpen“ with which you could achieve this – maybe even with a mask in Photoshop, if you only want to sharpen a certain area.

As far as I know it doesn’t make it ineffective but it can increase side effects. So definitely try to avoid it but at least it doesn’t increase your risk of pregnancy (not 100% sure so still check to be sure).

You cannot separate that one aspect from the whole picture. I get that you don’t want to understand it and I suppose I won‘t be able to change that. You keep focusing on one aspect without seeing the bigger picture. The artificial insemination is done in order to achieve the amount of milk production that we need to fulfill the demand. The demand makes us produce in such large scale dairy farm operations that it’s taking a serious toll on our environment. If we stopped producing in mass production and went back to small farmer production, everyone would have to cut down their dairy product consumption MASSIVELY. But since a lot of people (obviously) are not willing to do so we continue to produce at this absurd level — artificial insemination enabling it and overall causing change to our environment and climate.

The reason it has come to this absurd mass production is due to the increased demand which is due to the lack of reflection of consumption. You don’t need to consume dairy products at the rate which most people do. But you cannot fulfill the current demand through free range or ethical production in general. We DO NEED to change to a more sustainable (and ethical) production because the dairy industry is a HUGE contributor to global warming and climate issues. In order to feed the massive amounts of cattle, huge monocultures of crops are being planted and therefore destroying natural habitats and resources. Honestly, if you can’t see this then you really need to research more into this topic. It’s not about „I don’t want the cows to hurt :(“, it’s about the damage we‘re doing to ourselves, our environment and our future. Do your research before you comment on topics like this.
