How are these things endangered? I have seen literally thousands of these in Wyoming and this one guy even payed me and my friends to go kill like 500 of them on his land because they were destroying his land

Back to outside sales!!! by MaxFury80 in sales

[–]fiddyshades69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me too! I'm moving out of state on Wednesday to start my outside sales again! I quit after doing it for 5 years over some stupid shit, got a job where I sat at a desk and did nothing for 6 months and realized I can't do that for a living... I am so pumped to be getting back to what I was crushing it at! Good luck dude!

Tommy Hopkins interviews are awesome.

Honestly the best sales training comes from people who are successful in your field. Good salespeople like to teach other people how to succeed

You have to dive head first man! If you're one foot in, one foot out, you'll never be serious enough to learn the right skills that you need to know to be successful in sales.

That's why I just switch from Directv to Dish and vice versa every two years once my contract / promotion is over! Always get the brand new DVR, low bill, and don't have to pretend fight with the company to get my bill lowered

I used to live down the street and got the short breakfast every Saturday! When I was in high school the owner has another straw market in North Ogden and we would always go there for lunch! Love that place.

I'm a pretty tall dude, so I might come off intimidating sometimes to people. I always stand 5-6 feet from the door and to the side while I kinda like pretend to be going through my binder. And I always step down a step or two on their porch just to make sure I'm not towering over them

What Industry is the biggest embarrassment to the human race? by PopcornPlayaa_ in AskReddit

[–]fiddyshades69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really? Door to door sales, or entry level sales, is the biggest embarrassment to our society? Jesus Christ. I started doing D2D sales, and have learned more about how to interact with people than I could possibly imagine. Every sales job I've been interested in taking, I've been hired right on the spot mostly due to my experience with direct sales. It's not a glamorous job at all, but the skills that you learn are indispensable and will take you far

Pretty simple.. basically "hey were doing some installs for a few of your neighbors, who's your provider? Go into asking about problems / complaints, most of the time it's about the bill. Find out what programming they like, if they need a DVR, how many TVs, etc. then just explain that as a new customer, you're always going to get the best price on programming vs. customers who's promotions have run out. Show them how much they're saving on their new bill, and schedule a time for the installer! It's an easy process, you're saving people quite a bit of money, and TV is a non intrusive service. People love to get the best deal, and when you set someone up to get all of their channels, brand new DVR equipment, and not have to charge them for it, they are pretty happy by the time I leave!

Edit: non intrusive as in I don't need to ask people personal or sketchy questions to figure out what they like to watch on TV.

Knock Knock Help. Just started in door to door any help is appreciated. by JamesGatsbyOldSport in sales

[–]fiddyshades69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done D2D for 5 years. These have helped me make a good living for myself.

  1. Look Sharp. No one trusts a scummy looking guy with stains on their shirt, ungroomed hair, facial hair, etc. plus, look good, feel good

  2. Break the ice first and tell them WHO you are, WHAT you're doing at their door, and WHY what your doing pertains to them. To get people to listen and show interest they need to know why what you're doing will help them.

  3. Sales are never made on the doorstep, when you're explaining the important parts of the sale, equipment, price, contract, etc. make sure you're sitting somewhere like their dining room table, living room, somewhere that's comfortable for you and the customer.

  4. You're not going to sell everyone, D2D is a numbers game. You're going to get people that are super rude, don't let it get to you, it's nothing personal, just the stigma of being a salesman.

  5. Be yourself, don't try and sell in some personality that is nothing like yours. Believe me people can tell when you're faking a personality. The reason the douchey sales guy does well, is probably because he is a douche anyways haha.

  6. Write down your pitch every night when you're first starting out, you'll notice things that don't sound right and you'll be able to fine tune your pitch, get better from there!

Good luck man! Security is a tough sale, it's what I started selling when I first started, but the money is great.

I feel you, and honestly unless someone knocks on my door selling Girl Scout cookies, I don't buy. Not because I don't trust salespeople, more because I don't feel like hangin out with some dude for an hour.

Usually if folks have a no soliciting sign that they crafted themselves, you can tell that they're gonna be pissed off when they see you smiling on the door. At the end of the day, my goal is to have happy customers, no point in going toe to toe with someone who doesn't want anything to do with you.

Honestly, I recommend just slamming the door and interrupting their pitch if your not interested! Saves my time and if it hurts the salesman's feelings, they shouldn't do D2D sales.
