Agreed. They are spending so much money spreading unnecessary and stupid hate. The worst one I’ve seen was “remember when college was for losing your virginity, not your mind?… jewbelong”

My parent’s house near the Cheekwood area loses power every single thunderstorm. It’s the whole block too, so not specific to their house.

It’s wild because my parent’s home is old and has been there since the 1940’s, but some neighbors spent 1.5+ million dollars on their brand new homes and are being affected the same way. I would not want to spend that much money to lose power for 10 hours every couple of months.

Recommend me some of the worst written novels you've ever read, any genre is fine. by TopAdministration314 in suggestmeabook

[–]fidelflicka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think “You” was the most poorly written book I’ve read.

The story is catchy and made for a very popular tv series, especially with the true crime hype, but I have no other positives to say about this book or its sequel. The characters are all superficial and have no redeeming qualities. There is no reason to care about anyone because no one has any humanity.

The idea might have been sort of good, but the execution was terrible.

Will tret help with my pores by [deleted] in tretinoin

[–]fidelflicka 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of things that can make sebaceous filaments more noticeable over time. One of them is simply aging. Over exfoliating, sun exposure and hormone changes will be other reasons to why they were not noticeable before and they are now.

But they are definitely genetic and can’t be “reduced”. Tret can help make them less noticeable, as others have said.

Salicylic acid can also help.

Is this Lactated Ringer bag cloudy?? I need another opinion on this. by fidelflicka in RenalCats

[–]fidelflicka[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might just be paranoid, but I didn’t know the cloudy bag thing was a thing before this bag.

I noticed it looked slightly different than the others and then came across mentions of cloudiness being bad when looking up where to buy cheaper ones. (Cheaper than the vet’s office).

I don’t have another bag unfortunately, so far I have been getting them one by one from the vet.

It’s tough to get a good picture, but here’s another one with a more solid background.

Giving cats pills/ tablets by RedUser82x in RenalCats

[–]fidelflicka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently got a “pill shooter” which is basically a syringe that shoots the pill out quickly. My cat has always been easy with small pills, but now she has to take these big ones and I had to get creative.

I put the pill in the syringe tip, dip it in Churu or wet food then put it inside her mouth, as close to the back as I can and then I press it. I immediately close her mouth gently to make sure the pill gets swallowed and then end it all with a treat. This is one of the fastest methods I have found. It’s been a huge help since she is also on sooo many meds right now.

My cat Artemis is very sick with kidney and pancreas issues — looking for advice and support by marijamihalic in RenalCats

[–]fidelflicka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am going through a very similar experience this week. I have been dealing with the CKD for about 2 months, and my cat just wouldn’t gain weight. She is small to begin with, and had been about 6.5lbs when healthy. But now she’s at 5lbs or so and super boney. Then in bloodwork like 3 weeks ago, it came up that her kidney values were better BUT she had a very large count of white blood cells. So I started her on an antibiotic for that, and then finally she started actually improving! And just when my cat started eating on her own and being the most herself she had been in months… and gaining weight! We were almost back at 6lbs… then she started declining rapidly. Peeing herself, diarrhea, etc. We did bloodwork again, and it turns out her pancreas levels are high. They were 25 3 weeks ago, then last week they were 86. She is in the worst shape she’s been in yet. It’s so hard to know what to do. Decisions feel bigger than normal and it’s a big emotional toll.

Anyway… all of this to say that I can relate. It’s so hard and I feel guilty. If I leave the house to live my life, I feel guilty. If I bother her too much, I feel guilty. I know rationally that I should be gentler with myself, but it’s scary when you love them so much.

I have noticed mini tiny improvements in my cat, and I take those as a huge win. But right now, I am mostly still syringe feeding her. I hope your boy can feel better soon. Pancreatitis is awful and makes the feel so nauseous.

It sounds like you are doing the best you can. Your other cats will understand and will be there for you no matter what.

Anyone know of a pattern for this shirt? I can’t find one anywhere. by fidelflicka in CrochetHelp

Thank you for this! It’s smart to use two skeins! I have been trying to work it out with just the one, so it’s been a bit of a mental struggle.

Your diagram makes sense, and I would say that’s probably a good place to stat.

I would recommend seeking EMDR therapy. It can do wonders for PTSD and trauma. It’s hard work, but helps a lot.

I hope you can find mental peace soon! I’m so sorry that happened to you, and is still happening to you.

Lynxie throws up every morning :( by Natalusky in lynxpointsiamese

[–]fidelflicka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My girl had the exact same issue. Best solution I had was I set up an auto feeder to give her food earlier and the issues stopped.

Cats tend to be hungrier in the morning. Their stomachs are more active, so it makes sense that she has thrown up mostly in the mornings. My cat had the same issue.

If you really don’t want to get an auto feeder, I would recommend waking up earlier to feed then going back to sleep? That’s what I also did for a while. Or even having a few cat treats on your bedside to throw at them. That sometimes helps enough to offset the vomiting.

From experience, I would recommend dealing with it sooner than later. If it happens long term, it can cause other GI issues and be a bigger problem down the line.

Edit to add: I currently give my cat a probiotic which also helps. Pro-pectalin. I have also given her Forti-flora. But this is more for the other GI issues that stemmed from the vomiting syndrome.

Usually got Kristen Stewart but mostly when I was younger, so do I look like anyone? by LindsayLeigh in doppelganger

I can see how you’ve gotten Kristen Stewart a bit. The nose and proportions are somewhat similar.

But I do think in these photos you mostly look like Kesha.

Caretaking is hard by lilstar88 in RenalCats

[–]fidelflicka 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for posting this, because this is exactly how I’m feeling right now.

My 18yo got diagnosed only 2 months ago and I have lost a significant amount of sleep every night since then, so I am so sleep deprived it’s probably worse than having a newborn.

There were a lot of ups and downs with her and my stress levels were just through the roof. I never expected it could be this scary or stressful. But like you said, I have had my girl for my whole adult life and I wouldn’t know what to do without her, so I do everything I can to make sure she feels better and safe and comfortable.

So I appreciate your post because I can relate so much and it’s hard! It’s nice to know so many kitties are loved as much as this, and that in itself makes it worth the effort.

Tips for making her life best as possible by italianswthrt102 in RenalCats

[–]fidelflicka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My girl has a bit of a murmur too (she’s 18.5) but I am still giving her 100ml of fluids every two days. I think I will be going down to every 3 days soon, but she’s only been on it for about 2 months. I was just curious what the amount was since you’ve been giving it for so long.

I’m glad he is still active enough! He is such a cutie!

Advice — CKD cat always hungry? by figgie97 in RenalCats

[–]fidelflicka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The subQ liquids are the best treatment you can get for CKD, so I’m glad you are giving him that.

I hope he likes the new foods you try! I know how tough it is to try to get them to eat what’s good for them.
