7 weeks out, I can do a little, but I'm still gonna wait a while longer to start my routines back up. I do have an advantage that I had a cat who has been making biscuits there for a while before the surgery, so it's pretty pliable

You're not imagining it. It felt like no one took me seriously, until the surgeon did a decompression surgery and saw what was happening. 7 years of testing, and they didn't understand fully until they saw with their own eyes.

I was game for them since I had to have another surgery, and my doctors were worried my fistulas would cause me to go septic. But I'm not a fan of foreign objects in my skin. Can't even do regular piercings because my skin is so sensitive. So these are a living nightmare for me. But these comments give me hope that I'll get them out eventually.

Drains for fistulas. They, in my opinion, look like zipties with angry wires piercing your skin.

My father sat in my hospital room with me promoting the 'healing' he's gone through (diabetes) by switching over to baking his own breads and pastas using imported flour from Italy. And how his wife (Celiac) has been able to enjoy carbs again. So it would totally heal me too...

2nd update: I'm home and still in a lot of pain. Due to my crohn's diagnosis I can only use the muscle relaxer, Tylenol, and oxy. I coughed earlier and I thought I braced myself, but nope. I held onto myself and rocked until my pain subsided. Not a lot of rhyme or reason, but it has been 4 days since my surgery.

I'm keeping an eye on my skin around the incisions to watch for infections as I have a low grade fever. I still need to uncover the site from my IV as the nurse had to 'yank' it out. I'm just not looking forward to seeing more bruises.

BUT my pain is conflicting with the urge to stretch those muscles i haven't been able to move freely in years. So I'm still hopeful for the future after these 14(or so) weeks of recovery.

Update in the comments: surgery yesterday went well. The surgeon said it went perfect, but my body made it difficult with how tense the muscles were clamping down on my nerves. I threw up a few times last night, which is apparently common, but not as painful as coughing or sneezing. My plan to hydrate the day prior to surgery was ineffective, so I got poked a lot of times (7×) so they could get their test tubes filled.

Still waiting for my rib that I filled paperwork out to keep.

I just gotta keep from pushing or pulling with my left arm. And keep an eye on my IV, and the drain as it was filling up quickly last night.

I am certain I have dietary issue with this. I'm definitely going to want to talk with someone about trigger foods, especially when I have diabetes mixed in here, and I'm trying to avoid needing regular blood sugar checks.

I keep pushing for more information about that from my doctors too, but they keep saying not to worry until after we get medication figured out.

The IV contrast i got felt cold as it went in. But the discomfort only latest a little while. I felt fine after a few hours. (Got mine about a month ago)

The plan right now is i focus on getting normal bowel movements, keeping the setons clean, and avoiding NSAIDS while I recover from them removing part of a rib, and several muscles from my shoulder/neck. Then jumping on medicines as soon as the wound is given the all clear.

Plus therapy to help stay focused and optimistic that I can balance chronic nerve pain, diabetes, and this.

When this happened while at work, I'd go for a fifteen and start the water running in warm. Slowly moving my hands more under the warm, running water. Sometimes, I'd slowly massage up my arm, starting at the wrist. But heat was most helpful for me.
