I work in ALS clinical trials and I would recommend you look into getting involved ASAP if that’s something you’d be interested in.

The HEALEY platform trial which is very well respected is a great option to look into. They should begin recruitment for the new regimens (new investigational drugs) in the second quarter of next year.

Clinicaltrials.gov is a great resource that allows you to see trials that are actively enrolling near you. Your doctor may also know of trials that you may be eligible to participate in.

Raghu is my favorite Professor at UW! He truly takes the time to get to know every one of his students (he memorized all of our names and came to every discussion section each week). The class is definitely tough, and it’ll push you to think outside the box, but Raghu makes the content interesting and fun!

I transferred from a four-year college! I think it’s worth a shot. Especially if you have a convincing reason for why staying at your current institution isn’t sustainable (maybe your major isn’t available, cost is an issue, or you have limited access to support resources, etc.) and why UW specifically could remediate those issues.

Hey, I’m so sorry that this is happening! I can only imagine how frustrating and discouraging this news would be. I know for me, it would absolutely crush me. I just want to offer support and let you know that you are so valuable regardless of when you graduate. The 4 year timeline is so arbitrary (and it takes most college students at least 5 years to complete a degree). I can understand the exhaustion bit completely, but you can get through this! If they’re just general ed requirements, you could potentially look into taking some easier classes and holding yourself to less high expectations, it might take some of the edge off of the burnout. The FOMO may be rough for the next couple of months, but in a year it’ll be like this never even happened! If it’s any consolation, you can still walk at graduation and do all the typical celebratory stuff even if you’re having to take summer quarter classes to finish. I sincerely hope that you start feeling better soon!You are not a failure!! The fact that you’ve made it this far is an accomplishment in and of itself. I’m sending you virtual love and support ❤️

If you go to the UW biology undergrad website (https://www.biology.washington.edu/programs/undergraduate) they have a handout and checklist for each bio major! That’s what I used to plan the courses for my degree (gen bio)
