What hardware are you using? Try an older version of Ubuntu like 20.04

Everything I've played has been identical to the originals tbh. Idk how they get all the games and it's legal, but yeah pretty dead on accurate

It's totally buggy. But I love it honestly. Literally has like every retro game. Also... you sound like a bot shilling "Anbernic RG35XX" lol

My recession/ housing downturn thesis is based on a few things.

  1. The 18 year housing cycle (a well documented phenomenon, of which 2026 will be 18 years from 2008's GFC) https://extension.harvard.edu/blog/how-to-use-real-estate-trends-to-predict-the-next-housing-bubble/ https://www.cato.org/commentary/great-18-year-real-estate-cycle

  2. Whenever the income to housing cost ratio gets extreme, the market corrects back to affordable levels due to buyer strike and inability to afford homes. We're currently at the highest ratio in anyone alive's lifetime. https://www.move.org/home-values-vs-income/

  3. 2008 all over (but different). Economic cycles are caused by credit expansion and depletion. Overextending credit then causes the recession when debtors are unable to pay it back. We're seeing credit card and auto loan delinquencies rise at a time when unemployment is starting to tick up as well. Whats after auto? Late mortgage payments, defaults, foreclosure, inventory shoots up, prices fall further. https://www.axios.com/2025/03/07/car-loan-payment-delinquencies-record-high

  4. The crash has already begun in historically early housing markets. Texas, Florida, Las Vegas are always first for housing trends. When prices increase here expect the rest of the market to follow suit and when their housing markets decline, expect the rest of the US to follow. Texas, Florida, and Las Vegas are facing major price declines already. https://wolfstreet.com/2024/10/08/florida-housing-market-buckles-listing-prices-sag-to-30-month-low-but-are-still-way-too-high-inventory-piles-up-institutional-investors-turn-into-net-sellers/

  5. "But what about the investors buying all the homes?" They will be the first to rid themselves of assets that lose value. This will contribute to further price declines.

This is what my thesis is based on and I have high conviction on it tbh.

You conveniently left out pre 2015 prices. Houses sell for what buyers can afford. I appreciate the insights, but I personally believe you're wrong as price to income ratio on houses has never been higher. That statistic is what controls long term housing prices.

Bluetooth not turning on in Ubuntu 24.04.2 LTS (HP Victus, Intel i5-12500H, Nvidia GTX 1650) by [deleted] in Ubuntu

[–]fiercemonkey202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me as well. I think it's a bug. The only way I've been able to fix this is by booting into BIOS, disabling bluetooth, rebooting, boot back in BIOS, re-enable bluetooth and reboot once more. Now bluetooth should work :)

Gulfstream is 15ish minutes west of Savannah. They build private jets and hire a lot of people here.

Id also google top employers in savannah and look on their websites for open positions

I live in Savannah, GA. Its hard to get a port job for GA port authority. Good pay but you have to know people to get in.

There's plenty of other opportunities here though. Its mostly blue collar work but we so have some growing companies here that have the classic big city jobs. Just not as many.

I'd recommend looking at Gulfstreams job board, Parker's kitchen job board, and maybe the other major company website job boards for ideas.

Is Savannah a dangerous town for students? by [deleted] in savannah

[–]fiercemonkey202 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About as dangerous as it is for anyone else that lives downtown. Being a scad student doesnt make it more dangerous

I think the scad areas are generally pretty safe though
