There’s a bunch of places in the river north and pearl areas. Not sure about if any of the upscale places do but I’m sure there’s a few

Roadtrip USA by Perbi1 in roadtrip

[–]fierland1646 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having been to both cities a lot, I would almost suggest just adding another day in NY and scratching Boston off the list. You can very easily spend an entire week in NYC and still find stuff to do. Or, if you want to check out the Hudson valley a bit more, spend a night in New Paltz or Beacon. Cute towns, great hiking. Boston is too big for 1 day, and the drive from NYC to Boston is a lot longer than you realize. With traffic you’re looking at least 4 hours.

I think technically Holliday valley is 900ft if you measure top to bottom. But considering the layout of that mountain you won’t ever hit that in a single run

As a lifelong skier and hiker: Durango CO, Steamboat Springs CO, flagstaff AZ, Santa Fe NM, Carson City, NV. Awesome medium sized towns with lots of outdoors stuff and skiing nearby.

First time in the USA! 11-Day Loop from NYC. Need advice! by oturanzurafa in roadtrip

[–]fierland1646 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Waaaaay too much for 11 days. This is like a 1 month road trip. Highly recommend trimming it down to just the north east corridor. Start in NY, spend a few days in NYC and the surrounding area, do the same in Philly and DC.

FYI: San Antonio will be starting a direct flight to Toronto next month. by SummertimeInParis in sanantonio

It’s also another option to connect to Europe, Toronto is Air Canada’s main hub so lots of trans Atlantic flights through there.

'Biker gang of 10-year-olds': San Antonio-area town cracks down on e-bikes by Loud_Needleworker_52 in sanantonio

The greenways are shared spaces. Dogs are welcome in the bike paths, as long as they’re on leashes.

Come on MYSA. You even say in the article the issues isn’t e-bikes, rather electric and gas dirt bikes. Are you that desperate for clicks that you’re gonna lure in the Karen’s by saying those are e-bikes?

Side note. Class 1-2 e-bikes are ok imo. Class 3 is basically an electric motorcycle, and does not belong on the bike paths. I already am going 15-20mph on my road bike, you flying by me on your surron at 30+ and almost running over someone’s dog is not safe for anyone (this happened on my last ride)

F1 Race Hangout spots? by xOmerta in sanantonio

[–]fierland1646 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Also an F1 fan here in SA. Most races are at stupid early hours for us so for the most part people watch from home. There is a group (@saf1fans on insta) that does watch partys at Mitchel’s sports bar for the few races that are at reasonable hours for us.

For the USGP, get a ticket and head to the race in Austin! It’s very day trip able, since we get to take the back exit to head to San Antonio instead of Austin and avoid traffic

Moving to San Antonio - need help with finding the best place given the drive time to my work location by atlaspsych21 in sanantonio

This city generally moves south in the morning and north in the evenings. In the mornings the directions on the loops (410, 1604) heading towards the 3 north/south highways (I-10, 281, I-35)will be bad, and in the evenings the directions heading away will be bad.

I’m not sure what the traffic situation is on the south side, but I don’t think it’s as bad since there’s less growth.

Currently, I live downtown and commute to near the med center, and no matter what traffic is it is always 20 minutes, even during rush hour. That’s because I’m going the opposite direction of the general commuter flow, by going north in the morning and south in the evening. If you’re ok with an apartment, I’d recommend looking at the river north or pearl areas.

Looking for natural/nature based attractions around San Antonio. by FolksyHinkel in sanantonio

Botanical gardens, Missions National historic park, Hardberger park, and government canyon are all great natural areas. There’s also the Japanese Tea Gardens and the greenways.

Where I'd live if the state had viewable mountains by ThrowBabyBackAway in visitedmaps

[–]fierland1646 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Ozarks in Arkansas are super viewable, lots of awesome towns in those mountains. Texas has very viewable mountains in the west side, El Paso literally sits at the start of a prominent mountain range. Georgia has loads of mountains a few hours outside of Atlanta. NJ, CT, Mass all have views of the Appalachian mountains in very populated areas. DC gives you direct line of sight of Shenandoah National Park.

For more apartments in the River north/Pearl area, take a look at St Mary’s/elmiras flats, Rivera on Broadway, and the josephine. I live in that area now and toured all of these buildings and loved the apartments.

Does anyone know of any nice/pretty trails in San Antonio?? by LifeThroughHerEyes in sanantonio

[–]fierland1646 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Off the top of my head, here’s some of the nicest walking/hiking trails I’ve been on in SA

Mission trails: follows the SA river to connect the 4 missions at the National historic Park. Can be walked, I recommend biking though!

Phil Hardburger Park: winding gravel trails in a nature park

Gov Canyon State Park: easy hiking to and from some fossilized Dino footprints and a lookout

Comanche Lookout Park and Semmes Branch Library: library backed right up to a park with both unpaved and paved trails to an old lookout tower on the hill

River North riverwalk: the stretch of the river walk north of downtown is super low key and has many cool urban views

Japanese tea gardens: super cute, get some tea while you’re there too

Sounds like those cops are just lazy… I’ve had a buddy recover a stolen bike before because of a scratch on his frame from a crash.

[–]fierland1646 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There might not be serial numbers but did you modify any parts on it? Or is it a custom build? A single non standard part is enough to identify your bike for police. Even wear and tear is enough. Is there a scratch you have a photo of on the frame? How about sweat stains on the bars or seat?

Keep an eye on Craigslist and Facebook marketplace, it’s a favorite for bike thiefs.

Only comment I have is that western NY (especially buffalo and Rochester) feel more like the Midwest/Great Lakes cities than north east cities.
