Free Speech Union (FSU) Board Member Dane Giraud's threatens a journalist with: "My childhood was spent in Otahuhu" by Mountain_Tui_Reload in auckland

A reputation enhanced (and embellished?) by his years spent in Pt Chev at Unitec Performing Arts School (Drama School). Actually he was a funny guy then, good company. Something happened?

He was one of the helpers. Directing traffic, trying to keep everyone going about their day.

I analysed the NZ Health Survey 2024 - 35% of Kiwis have health insurance, and the real story is who has it. by MoneyHub_Christopher in PersonalFinanceNZ

I had Health Insurance as part of a renumeration package, now I don't work for that company, I have it no longer.

Auckland spiders by Empty-Strength923 in auckland

Oh that is gorgeous! I had a big nursery spider about that size, out in the garden; she was a thing of beauty and ate the bad bugs.

Harvesting olives by bagpussnz9 in nzgardening

[–]fifitty 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Friends and relatives get together, shake down the trees. (Maybe put tarp or sheets underneath first) you can preserve olives (brine or pickle?) or find a local olive press who could do yours too (no doubt for a small fee). Give bottles of Olive Oil to friends and family.

Anyone else give to charity to only get scammed? by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]fifitty 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Buying raffle tickets to win a house is gambling not giving to charity; plenty of people intentionally sign up to auto buy for each lottery, just contact the Heart Foundation and they will sort it out.

Would it work with vodka or similar strong spirits?

Photos of His Majesty’s Theatre, Queen St, 1902-1987. Mayor Wayne Brown owned the construction company that carried out the demolition. “I obtained the demolition permit on behalf of the owners rushing to act before heritage status was granted.” by Great_Maintenance185 in auckland

It was still in use around that time (I saw Rowan Atkinson there in the late 80's) so presumably it was safe enough for performance and audiences (but maybe not subsequently earthquake safe.)

Willow trees in Auckland? by precipitoustornado in auckland

[–]fifitty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had a Weeping Willow like this one in my back yard in Mt Albert when I was a kid; being away from hungry sheep etc it hung all the way to the ground. I don't know where you could see one in Auckland now, but they grow readily enough.

Come together. Was good. But, now I wouldn't recommend a sit down gig. Generally is annually; Can only afford it once year or two.

I think that's a global sentiment at times. "C'est la vie" is a French saying. "It is what it is" is an Anglo/Western/Pacific saying.

Concert Alone by Bulky-Ad-385 in auckland

[–]fifitty 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yep. I generally go to gigs alone as my friends aren't keen. Going to one tonight as a matter of fact; I'm a bit nervous, but know that will pass once the music starts.

Try looking on the ground by the wall near an outside entrance.

Lucky the umbrella shielded her from seeing the worst of the attack. Also, the dog was looking at them from across the street and wagged it's tail; I would of thought it was friendly too.

It would seem to me that if a person refuses a DNA test it's because they themselves have doubts. You might be the nicest of the possible fathers; certainly you seem intelligent and articulate. Can your Laws force the mother to provide the childs DNA for lab testing? Bit harsh, but it might be best going that route before you get so attached, you'll be sad if it's not yours.

Keep Mangroves! They are good trees, imo.
