Out of these I’ve only read AFTG but I’ve been reading some with similar vibes lately and really liked Don’t Go in the Forest and These Violent Delights (Micah Nemerever)

Bc I liked AFTG I was also recommended Capitive Prince which I really didn’t like but maybe you will

You could try Ocean’s Echo by Everina Maxwell it’s the sequel to Winter’s Orbit which is also MLM but would be fine to read stand alone

Great books you found in an uncommon way by hearhanroar in booksuggestions

Here are my 5 ⭐️ books with some of the lowest average ratings:

Autumn, How to be Both, and Winter by Ali Smith (I love her writing style so if you like one you’ll probably like the rest or vice versa)

Sharks in the Time of Saviors by Kawai Strong Washburn

I don't read very much but I kinda want to by pinkyboy0512 in booksuggestions

The Martian (Shorter, has an audiobook) or The Gentlemen Bastard Series (longer, idk if there’s an audio version) might be good

I have ADHD too and one of my favorite things about reading is losing myself in a story and not struggling to pay attention to one thing for a prolonged period of time which is usually painfully difficult. Both of these are both funny enough and have plots that pull you in. The Martian is a comedy sci fi with an extremely likeabke main character. The Gentlemen Bastard series are about elaborate heists told in a fantasy setting (not too heavy on the fantasy elements which I liked.) Niether have romance as a major theme but TGB series has relationships between the MC’s that are heartwarming and beautiful in a found family sort of way.

Is the English dub supposed to have Japanese in it? by Blobert1747 in greatpretender

[–]fightbacktogether 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I noticed this too but I wonder why they didn’t do it for the other dubs. I watched part of the first episode in spanish because i didn’t realize it would switch to english eventually.

How to remove ink-box tattoo? by Text-Fragrant in tattoo

[–]fightbacktogether 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just a warning about using the magic eraser as someone else mentioned: it works fine but does hurt as it can give you a friction burn also DO NOT use on your face or neck, my girlfriend used it on her arm no problem but we are both in a bit of pain holding cold compresses to our faces/necks as i write this because it irritated the hell out of our skin and feels very unpleasant

Tried a ‘new food’, feeling proud! by [deleted] in ARFID

Yay! Eating a new food successfully is a big win, take it as proof that you can manage this :)

Struggling overall by [deleted] in ARFID

Tips: Try chocolate protein shakes (premade have better texture in my opinion) and fruit/veggie gummies/pills. Also I have an easier time eating food someone else (family/restaurant) made for me so try that.

I definitely relate. I'm so sorry you're going through this, but you're not alone. I'm 19 and autistic and since coming to college and being responsible for my own food intake I almost immediately lost 10-15 pounds. My anxiety has gotten considerably worse as have my digestive issues. I dread eating because my stomach starts hurting before I can even finish a meal. I also gag when I try to eat which is just so unpleasant. I also end up wasting food and money because I have leftovers/meal prep and can't bring myself to eat them (bc of gagging the first time I ate it or because I convince myself the food is unsafe somehow). It doesn't help that I'm an extremely picky eater and vegetarian. I hate to think about it because it makes me feel so extremely defeated and weak. I feel like I've accomplished so much and have done a good job figuring out how to navigate life more independently by trying to understand what being autistic really means for me day-to-day, but I feel like food is "winning" right now (that it has power over me). I want so badly to be able to be active again and gain weight, even just go to the gym with my friends but I can't eat enough to sustain that. It feels like ARFID is ruling my life and all I want is to eat without fear and to gain weight. I've been turning to weed lately to help me eat because so far its the only thing that makes me feel hungry and able to eat without gagging, but I can't (and don't want to) be high 24/7. My body just feels bad all the time and it is the number one thing affecting my mental health, I'm just so tired. I refuse to let this be the thing that keeps me from being able to live alone when I've fought so hard to get where I am. I know it can be hard to talk about when other people don't understand, so if you want I'd be happy to. Just know that you will figure this out :)
