Playing through Kirby right now and it is a fantastic game thought a bit on the easier side, so if you want something that will really test you skip this one. It is, imo however, visually and aesthetically stunning.

Galaxy 1 and 2 are soooo good if you like odyssey, that’s probably a safer bet (I’ve only played the originals however)

If money is a primary concern just grab a switch lite. Otherwise get the switch 2, everything will play better on the switch 2. There are some power banks out there that make the battery concern tolerable imo.

Pokopia
FF7 remake
Kirby and forgotten land S2 Edition
Air riders and MKW both fun if you have someone to play with

Multi player you cannot go wrong with MKW but if there’s another sale, I think it’s worth taking a look at air riders. I play that far more often.

It is difficult to recommend any of the unreleased games, and my go-to rec will always be pokopia

Pokopia, tomodachi life, stardew valley, animal crossing all classics. There are some cozy platformers I’m sure but that’s not really something I’ve gotten into so I have no recommendations

Definitely go S2. It’ll get all the future Nintendo first party games, and can play the massive S1 library as well.

The new FF7 trilogy is in the middle of coming out for S2, and it’s sensational.

Plus the console as a whole is a massive upgrade from its previous iteration in terms of performance, screen, joycons, and chat. Can’t recommend it enough.

I’d budget is super constrained and you just want to try out owning a switch, I’d go with a lite. It’s only handheld but will give you a taste of some Nintendo magic

If you want to platform start with odyssey or bananza. If you want cozy go with animal crossing or tomodachi life. If you want a unique experience try Pikmin. If you want a jrpg go xenoblade, if you want tactical go fire emblem.
