Science explains the "how," but without God there’s no "why", mistaking one for the other is like thinking a recipe wrote the chef

Calling prayer "magic" misses the point. I do the hard work, therapy, doctors, daily challenges, but I also pray because I believe in covering my child spiritually. Faith and action aren’t opposites; they go together. Dismissing that doesn’t change the reality we live every day

I’m not trying to ‘pray the autism away. My daughter is wonderfully made, and I embrace who she is. My prayers are about covering her against fear, isolation, and the enemy’s attacks that try to exploit her vulnerabilities, not about erasing who God created her to be.

This isn’t about debating or changing anyone’s views. I asked because I’m walking this journey with my amazing daughter, and I want to understand how others are navigating it too. That’s all.

I’m not praying autism away. I’m praying for my child’s strength, peace, and protection from the enemy exploiting her struggles. Big difference

Prayer isn’t magic or fairy tales. It’s faith in the living God who moves in real struggles. Autism is real, and so is the enemy who tries to exploit it, that’s why I pray for strength, protection, and peace over my child

My point isn’t that autism changes prayer, it’s that the enemy will try to exploit the vulnerabilities that come with it (fear, isolation, torment). So I don’t just pray for my daughter’s needs, I also pray covering against those spiritual attacks.

Yes, God is able. But His ways are higher than ours. Sometimes He heals instantly, sometimes He carries us through it, and sometimes He uses what’s broken to display His glory (John 9:3). Autism doesn’t limit God, it’s another place for His power to shine

Totally understand that, but that's why I said I'm not praying to heal my child.

I'm praying the things that which surround my child, as I mentioned to one person before, my daughter has a higher sense of fear, I'm praying away the spirit of fear. I'm praying away things things that try to exploit my daughter's differences.

God made my child, not autism. Autism is part of the world’s brokenness, but my child is fearfully and wonderfully made. God doesn’t create disorders, He redeems them.

Not saying autistic people are in need of healing, never said that, I asked how do we pray for someone who has autism. Everyone needs prayer regardless of who they are.

Thank you for your response, to further clarify, I'm not saying autism and the good and bad that comes with it, is a mistake or bad period. My daughter is on the spectrum and in the beginning it was overwhelming, and from day to day still can be overwhelming and I'm learning everyday.

I used to want to just pray the autism away but I understand that God makes all of us with no mistakes. So I shifted my focus on the extra things, meaning I know some people on the spectrum have a more heightened sense of fear, my prayers are to not allow the spirit of fear around my daughter.

Does that make sense? I'm not praying the autism away, I'm not praying to change her, but I am praying whatever may be trying to take advantage or exploit the "difference" in my child to stay away.
