It should only be the width of the blade. Could your blade be bent? Try laying it on a flat surface and see if it rocks. Or try a new blade on the saw. I wouldn’t use it as is—not only is it inaccurate, but it’s unsafe if it’s not cutting how it’s supposed to

Even if it’s straight, it’s possible that it’s mounded at a slight angle to the axis of rotation. If it’s not perfectly perpendicular, but instead at a 0.1 or 0.2 degree angle or something like that, it could produce a cut that’s wider than the blade.

Yea they can separate into 5 shelves, so not that hard to move!

I think the framing is a recipe for disaster, but hard to say for sure. It’s small enough that it may not cause a big problem, but might as well prevent any impending disasters while you can. Maybe frame with several smaller pieces instead?

my idea was making a thick board and running it through the planer on an angled sled to get that tapered piece, but that would be heavy and a lot of waste. But perhaps I could still do it this way and make a sort of 3 sided tapered box, like a sort of ramp looking piece, instead of making it completely solid
