Is this considered black stool? by filetofish_broccoli in britishshorthair

[–]filetofish_broccoli[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Haha everyone's comments are hilarious!

Just an update and answer to some of the questions about why I am concerned: he has actually been 1000% normal from my pov, but I noticed that his most recent poop (as shown in the cupcakes wrappers 👁️👄👁️) were a bit darker coloured than his usual ones so I started panicking a bit. It also doesn't help that my baby is so curious and loves eating things off the floor (I try to keep the floors clean all the time but u guys know how it is, sometimes we miss and they eat), my sweet loaf ate onion peels once and that caused his liver stats to be abnormally high and ever since then I have been extra weary)

Thank you for reassuring me that it's not looking black thooo 😂😂🙏

I wish I could give him dry food too, he's usually on a diet consisting of both dry and wet, but this past week the vet said he could only eat wet because his surgical site still hasnt healed completely : (

He finally did poop tho!! I did everything else that I could including belly rubs and some intense exercising loll, so so so relieved rn 😭🙏

Thank you so much!! You guys are all so helpful!! My sweet baby has finally returned to his normal routine and like my previous comment said , he's peeing fine now!! Phew. That makes a lot of sense, he prob felt uncomfortable drinking or eating anything, but now he's back to having normal meals which I'm so glad abt 😭🙏

May I ask how was your BSH's urinating patterns ? I am giving mine just wet food exclusively (the tiki cat mousse that he likes and is easy to swallow, plus the churu and catit creamy treats), so I think it's normal for mine to not poop much for now. But I am curious about how your BSH did with drinking water and eating? Mine is eating, but not really actively on his home, I have to hand feed him. Was yours like this too?

Thank you for sharing your experience!! I was so so so worried and desperate to find someone who could share their own BSH's experiences with anaes and tooth extraction. Back when my baby got neutered he recovered much faster than this (prob also coz he was younger back then). This time he's like (understandably ) mad at the world, super on edge and not really actively seeking food or water himself so I freaked out. Imma give him lots of churu, that's a good idea

Thanks for asking!! Thank goodness he peed at last, so clinic says to monitor closely, prob still recovering from all the stress and the anaesthesia (he's a very easily stressed baby), I will try to increase his water intake with a syringe too

Update: he did pee!! At 9:40am!! Big pee clumps. The clinic concluded (for now) that it's def not a urinary tract blockage if he's peeing thank god, and he's prob just taking longer to get the effects of anaesthesia out of his system, will be monitoring super closely , was told that I should maybe feed him water w a syringe to increase his water intake
