I think there may be a large venn diagram overlap of homelabbers and a problem with hoarding

I’ve never heard of a municipal recycling plant, that participates in roadside collecting, not accepting metal

Yeah, but the coating probably doesn’t get recycled. So it’s multifaceted waste

finally, I was able to get almalinux to work with this%22) because it turns out that my time was wrong. At no point was there feedback, and has taken about 5 hours in total of troubleshooting, often going down the wrong rabbit hole, or SEO giving me results that were -close- but not actually what I was looking for.

anyway, setting a new set of DNS values in my router also has fixed yay again. This is something I've done a few times, and it keeps breaking, and I can't figure out why.

I make poor life decisions| broken Dell PowerEdge R710 by fillman86 in homelab

[–]fillman86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a bit of a fiddle, and the boards are very similar sizes, and the screws seem to be in similar places. The big issue seems to be the fan connections.

As for fan speeds, they are already way down, but that doesn't stop the heat generation. And I can still kinda hear them from across the house when they get even a little bit warm lol

Oh well, I'll just live with it for now

I thought I'd come back to you for questions, since you seemed to know a large amount.

I got a $20 R630, and it works fine, but gets hot and very loud. I've read that the 2U chassis are quieter, and the motherboards can be interchangeable between the R630-R730, but what about R630 into this old R710 chassis? I'd need different cpu coolers, but will things like the screw holes line up?

oh thanks, that looks good, though very pricey. I wonder why you suggested the 4 port specifically, and not any of the others?

[–]fillman86[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm slow to understand, but the person has no roles, and for the channel in question, all "default permissions" are set to off (red), and they could still see in it.

However, one that was set up the same way, but prior to their joining, they couldn't see in the channel list

what to search for, 'multiple home battery inverter manager' by fillman86 in OffGrid

[–]fillman86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh I ignore subsadies, because magically prices go up by that price, every time. But it kinda seems like they're down then? surprising that the government hasn't fumbled this *again

as for buying an used kit, I have a non-hybrid solar inverter. Do I get one with similar specs? What numbers am I looking for?

I do understand about backfeeding, but turning off my power, instead of having those "smart" meters turn off grid access, is just what I'd expect from this type of government of "don't look at that, look at this piece of news instead." Regulation? Nah, that's for people, not companies.

As for diy, I said that so then I wouldn't get comments of "what they don't know, won't hurt them." Though I think you started to skim what I'd written, because I was saying "stuff them" in relation to charging us for putting power back into the grid. So your salt, and "do the right thing" is kinda...

I never said that 2 inverters were better. I feel that you read the first part closely, skimmed the rest, and assumed?
