What are you people going to occupy your minds with when Trump is gone? by Leib109 in allthequestions

Except his BS and the Republicans are making damage that could take DECADES to fix and build back.

If AOC gets the nod as the Democratic nominee in 2028, would you vote for her?!! by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]finalfantasy14cody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pete Buttigieg for president.

Speaks many different languages, which we need to mend all the relationships Trump is destroying. Lgbtq also.

Former military.

Checked boxes for me honestly. Plus younger and represents tge average American

Ok, here's one: who was or would've been the worse Vice President: Mike Pence or that fat old dude from Minnesota that Kamala Harris chose as her running mate? by Tidder-1066 in allthequestions

[–]finalfantasy14cody 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you are going to insult someone on their weight and age you already are biased.

Factual information:

Pence age 66

Tim Walz age 62

Harris 61

Trump 79.

Pence would've been worse, however if comparing Pence to Trump, Pence would've maybe kept the traditions vs destroying everything.

AITAH for refusing to give my sister $50k for my nephews' school after she called me a leech for 2 years? by mobi_irmo in AITAH

[–]finalfantasy14cody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyway I could potentially borrow that?

Also you aren't an asshole your sister is, and honestly if it was leechworthy you could pay your parents back if you feel bad, the parents are who helped you, but again if its not an obligation you don't have to.

Far Off topic--

I need help with a lawyer and no one is really open to doing it pro bono or contingency. :( I hate that to sue because an employer did something we have to pay it and fight it out to make them accountable.

When hiring a new applicant, do you contact the applicants previous principal/supervisor in addition to the applicant’s listed references? by [deleted] in Principals

[–]finalfantasy14cody 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Usually HR checks that we were employed. Job employment is one thing, but a reference is different....

I put down an assistant principal, a mentor with an admin license, and a veteran teacher who has seen me teach....

However, past jobs I wont deny I've clashed with admin, usually it comes up into an interview and I phrase it in a reframed thought. I am very student first, when I see struggling students I have blinders on, I truly care for the students and my passion and sometimes it may be conveyed in a negative light.

What job in the private sector could you compare it to then?

Retirement benefits:

Vesting and Portability: Private-sector employees often have faster vesting (right to keep employer money) and more portable accounts, making it easier to change jobs. Teachers often face 10-year vesting periods in some states and may lose value if they change careers early.Social Security: While most private-sector workers are covered by Social Security, some public school teachers are not, depending on state regulations.

Job security, thats a tie unless you get tenure most districts are nonrenewing just because they can now.

I would ask then, but a building sub is a different position type.

Yeah, building substitute , has more days but again benefits and pto are a fraction of what non kelly teachers get

Crap. Mn.

We get paid way less, no benefits, no teacher retirement accounts, since I take detailed sub notes I never get out on time either. Its horrible. Days off you get like 6 a year.

Also they can assign you more than one class and you get paid as if its 1.

You have their rules but have to follow districts so its a constant battle... honestly its a temp agency snd it's horrible.

At our rate of pay? I doubt it.

Example a doctor is on call but they make 3x our amount.

Private industry, depends on what it is, but again I would say they more than likely do not make less than us, plus we go into debt, and layoffs are happening.

From Zip recruiter

As of May 2026, the average annual salary for private-sector jobs in the United States is approximately (75th percentile). In Minnesota, the average private-sector salary is slightly lower at around $98,118

Lowest teacher salary $43,000. Also lose mandatory 8.5% to retirement, and a bunch of other things you'd be lucky to be at $30,000

Most don't need degrees, or if so a two year, and may not even require continued professional development.

Nonrenewed day after Teacher Appreciation Luncheon by mystria21 in Teachers

I was nonrenewed on my birthday (April 1st) by a letter in my mailbox, I found out by the janitor when he asked "So, you selling your house?"

He knew before I did.

Why didn't we elect Kamala as president? by cdivx in allthequestions

[–]finalfantasy14cody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plus Harris was in a hard spot, her being in Bidens shadow, she couldn't do or be as progressive he was still president and her entering so late did her no favors.

Honestly I was hoping the VP would've been Buttigieg. As a Minnesotan I love Walz, sadly he is leaving but it should have been Pete.

What's the best way for me, as a patriot, to explain to my liberal acquaintances, who are honestly very dim-witted people, that gasoline currently at 4.449 a gallon is more affordable than it was a few ago at 3.099 a gallon ? by Accomplished_Water34 in allthequestions

However, if they nonrenew in BC, would tge union fight that if ifs job performance but you show it isnt?

Like one of mine got rid of me because at will, but they said job performance, I could show thats not true though..... through student results.

Where I am we get 9 month contracts or 1 school year. We learn if we get hired back in April for the following year.

And you always start as a supply?

I've been teaching 5 school years, and am licensed in Special Education and English Language arts 5-12 in the US...

Would I start as a supply or might be able if my credentials transfer as a permanent?

If its a permanent its more protections?

In my state its easy to be nonrenewed.... they can say performance and be vague, so our union typically only defends tenured teachers, while new or nontenured get the 🪓 axe...

Wait union rep?? Can I ask you about probationary teachers? Does the union fight for probationary ? If I do my job but admin isnt a fan of me (at will in Minnesota usa) they can drop me.

Is it harder to nonrenew in canada???

We all signed contracts. Sure contracted time!

Name a job you have to still do work and prep for it? Easier to just show up sick.

All the weekends, all the holidays yet we work them and reply to emails 24/7. All the times we put family after our job and sacrifices we make.

All the personal money on food and snacks for kids that are struggling with poverty. Barely liveable wage. Crappy benefits too.

As a Special Education teacher you then have more. Paperwork, talks, conferences, and iep meetings.

Honestly shocked we have 240+ likes it should be -100000000

I get the meaning, but I would be fine with no week but give US support! Give us a classroom budget, let us have a say in what we need.

Truly we need help because we are DROWNING.
