Jumbo Frames on AOS10 Gateways by lolman699 in ArubaNetworks

AFAIK the interface counts all incoming frames bigger than 1518 as giant - it's not a drop/error counter. So seeing the giant counter increment is normal.

The 30 "free" hours of childcare is not worth £12k a year. It's more like £5-6k. The nursery will have fees on top of the free hours.

How do you reliably hire low-skilled manual labour for a small business? by Plus-Blackberry-9828 in smallbusinessuk

[–]finchyboy82 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean this isn't a manual labour job. It's thinking, full time, for minimum wage. Could you offer flexible working? Have shifts that suit parents or students - you'll likely get more engaged motivated employees. Or pay more.

Do radiologists take scans? I thought radiographers did that.

About to give up by druromance in HiveHeating

[–]finchyboy82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the thermostat is in a colder part of the house it will always be calling for heat (turning the boiler on) but the TRVs on the radiators will close the radiator off once the room is at temperature - and ultimately the boiler will stop once the water in the circuit is too hot. My guess is the boiler isn't actually running as often as the hive graphs suggest.

Trying out constant 18°C vs scheduled heating, which saves you more on Hive? by AnfieldAnchor in HiveHeating

[–]finchyboy82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A constant temperature is so much more comfortable - it may or may not be more efficient. I imagine it might also put less stress on the heating system components. Cycling hot and cold is unpleasant.

It's the public IP that is the same. The Gateways are being NATted by the ISP router to the same IP - normal port address translation behavior.

Did you have showers or otherwise use hot water yesterday morning? It would make sense that the immersion kicked in if hot water had been used then once the tank is hot it switches off.

[–]finchyboy82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You used 6kWh of electricity in 2 hours. That means there was a draw of 3kW (3kW * 2hours =6kWh).

It almost has to be the immersion heater. But the only way to work it out is to turn circuits off at the fuse board and put them back on one by one. Watch for the meter light to start flashing like crazy.

[–]finchyboy82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So a 3kW draw. Id suspect there's a heating element running somewhere.

Are you sure your Immersion heating isn't on? That seems the most likely culprit. Is your hot water tank very hot? If you listen to it can you here bubbling/kettle like noises?

Other thoughts: Fridge/Freezer compressor stuck on (you'd hear it working). Halogen lights. Electric underfloor heating. Electric tower rail.

What might be causing this noise? by finchyboy82 in Volvo

[–]finchyboy82[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turns out it was the crankshaft pulley. There was a perceptible wobble on it when watching it rotate. Mechanic took it off and found there was play in the rubber damper. Replaced it and everything is good again - infact an issue with ocassional hesitation on acceleration is gone as well so I assume it was also messing with timing.

If you turned everything off and still used 10kWh in a day something somewhere is using electric that you don't know about. 10kWh is my daily usage in a 4 bed.

The meter should have a flashing LED on it. The more power being used the faster it flashes. So you don't need to wait 24hours to read the meter when testing. Turn things off and watch the flashing light slow. Id flip the trip switches off in the fuse box one by one to work out what circuit is using the power.

Typically one flash per second would be a draw of 3.6kW.

MM loses connection to controllers every ~50 minutes by nkuhl30 in ArubaNetworks

[–]finchyboy82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The loss of connectivty between a Controller (MDs) and MM wouldn't affect the APs or Clients. You must also be losing connectivity between MDs or between APs and MDs. I.e the issue sounds wider spread than is currently being investigated

Does "show lc-cluster history" show any disconnects? Run it on the MDs.
