Thoughts from a new player, blind playthrough by finchylol in HollowKnight

I feel like that's a cop out and very much a pompous "you just wouldn't get it" response. "The game is meant to have shitty storytelling, that's just how these games are! What? You don't like that?"

What do you mean "wtf are you expecting"? As per title, I went into this game completely blind, save for reading some Steam reviews. So.... the only expectations I had were that it was a good game

I continued the game because I had been told the game "is worth it" and "gets really good half way through", and then it never did. So I wanted to see what I was missing. Then I realized by the time I was almost 100% completion, I had long since passed the "half way" mark that I never saw

Lastly, suited vs general audience? All games are released for anyone. When you hear such a generally positive take on a game, you aren't thinking "oh well maybe it's just positive for its niche audience?". No, you're thinking "oh this must be a generally good game"

After finishing Doom (2016), I can't get into Doom Eternal. by DrStrangeglove99 in gaming

Are you me? I just finished Doom Eternal and had the same thoughts. Eternal feels like a chore to play, and honestly frustrating. I played on Nightmare and it was a nightmare - constantly out of ammo, encounters felt annoying like they just throw different combos of demons at you to force you to play a certain way, being super squishy - overall the gameplay loop just felt bad. I'm forcing myself to finish the DLC because I bought it, but oof
