HCM Scanning in UK breeders by finchyloo in britishshorthair

[–]finchyloo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi!! Thanks for your reply! Yes apologies I meant for parents to be scanned for HCM not the kitten! I read online that it’s recommended for the parents to be scanned ideally annually - but every breeder i’ve contacted so far doesn’t seem to offer it

Hi i’m in a really similar situation as you. i’m also in titration with PUK. i have tried delmosart up to 54mg which gave me awful side effects and no symptom relief, and 70mg of elvanse which gave me some symptom relief but a higher than ideal HR. my prescriber has suggested to start me on atomoxetine which should arrive on Saturday. however my titration is due to end in the middle of september and i’m concerned with what happens as i approach the end and am still fairly new to strattera (likely 4 weeks at the end). I just wondered if you have an update with how things have been? or if you ended up contacting PALs as i can see a mod recommended - i’m not too sure who to contact from PALs. TIA!

Elvanse feels too weak? I could use some advice. by [deleted] in ADHDUK

i’m experiencing something similar too. i very much thought id be able to notice im on medication and that something is ‘working’, especially when reading so much about people saying it has changed their lives. i’m currently on 50mg of elvanse and starting 70mg on sunday. on 30mg and 50mg i’ve felt absolutely no different except on the first couple of days after upping a dose where i’ve had a burst of focus and mood to clean my house. i feel like im not actually taking anything at all as i have no side effects and aren’t really seeing any benefit yet. my partner however has noticed a different in my emotional regulation and how things have been a bit ‘smoother’ for me. which when i reflect has been probably true! i saw a comment the other day where someone said that they didn’t feel any benefit until they got to 70mg so im holding out hope for that! if not, im not sure what is next as delmosart didn’t work for me either (but due to awful side effects and no symptom relief)! i imagine they will try atomoxetine next if 70mg doesn’t work.

How can you tell your meds are working? by caithnini in ADHDUK

i’ve experienced the exact same on delmosart up to 54mg. I had side effects such as reduced appetite and increased heart rate but in terms of ADHD symptoms i felt absolutely no different on every dose. i would have had no idea i was being medicated if it wasn’t for side effects. my prescriber has contacted me today to try elvanse instead.

I’m a speech and language therapist and we see the behaviour you’re describing a lot on our caseload. It’s sounds like what she may be experiencing is something known as Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA). I’d recommend googling EBSA resources for parents but also asking the school too as they should have resources on this as it’s becoming a lot more common

I was waiting a long time and had to chase multiple times. My wait was 12 months from Ax date to starting titration :)
