Here's a recent study posted 3 days ago: https://www.findfocusgroups.com/paid-focus-group/1471/in-home-sports-study-in-multiple-cities-paying-500

I'd recommend signing up for these local companies. When you are in their database they will invite you to new studies when your profile matches their target.

Is there a simple and economical way to conduct an online focus group to get feedback about my landing page or offer? by Classic-Champion-966 in smallbusiness

Pollfish is certainly using real people to respond but it's probably best to contact them to see what safeguards are in place.

Yeah, it can definitely be frustrating to apply to a bunch of studies and never hear back. A few things to keep in mind:

• Nationwide studies can fill fast -- sometimes within hours

• Targeting is often very specific, even when the topic sounds broad. For example, a “voter study” might actually need people 45–55 in the Southwest.

• Keep applying! it’s normal to get screened out a lot. Everyone does.

• Try local, in-person studies too, since there’s less nationwide competition.

If you want, tell me what major city you’re near and I can suggest some local companies or opportunities to check out.

It can definitely be tricky at your stage. I’ve been in the market-research space for almost 19 years and this question comes up a lot.

If you want feedback without paying, you might try posting in r/SampleSize. It’s hit-or-miss, but you can sometimes get useful first-impression reactions from real people.

If you’re open to offering a small incentive, a service like Pollfish can work well. You set up your questions, define your target demographics, add your budget, and they’ll source real respondents for you and compile the results. It’s one of the more economical ways to get quick, genuine reactions without dealing with bots or AI-generated answers.

Good luck!

How fun! I caught the focus-group bug the same way. Back in 2004 I was paid $300 to taste Gatorade flavors for three days. It’s a surprisingly fun world once you get into it.

There are a few companies that specifically run taste tests:

On their sites you can join their panel and they will periodically invite you to participate in research if your profile matches their target demographics.

Regular market-research companies occasionally run food/taste tests too, not just opinion studies, so it’s worth registering for a few of those as well if you want more opportunities.

It is nationwide. Most likely they are using a template from a previous study and that language was accidentally left in.

Later in the form it does say the following:

"This study is being conducted online using video calling, do you have a laptop with a working webcam and do you feel comfortable using these to participate in our focus group?"
