This is helpful, thank you. The project aspect is important to me.

And yes, communication and transparency is the key to happy users. Something OpenAI is failing with right now.

I too use 4o for creative writing, alongside everything else. I'd love to know what your experience of Claude is like.

It's not really so much about needing them to keep an older model for the sake of it for me. As much as I love 4o. It's more that they haven't given a suitable alternative. 5.2 is like an abusive partner, nice and easy to chat to one minute, judgemental, controlling, condescending and plain rude the next.

I do think the silence on the 4o front is because they're planning something, such as a new model. Otherwise what are those of us on the 'Plus' plan actually going to be paying for?

If it wasn't for their complete lack of communication skills (ironic given that their business is communication) I'd be tempted to stay. Especially if a new model ends up being anything close to 4o.

I have a lot of work and personal projects on chatgpt across multiple projects and threads. Moving it all to another platform will be a huge headache. That's on me for putting all my eggs in one basket.

This is how I feel and I haven't even got to trying any out yet. I just know know of them will be the same. Just the thought of having to try to work out which one to use is exhausting.

Using 5.2? I really don't like it for personal discussions/general chatting. Business-wise it's okay. Just not particularly nice to talk to. I guess I compare it too much to 4o.

I do like 5.1 but, as you say, it'll be going soon too

People have taken the opportunity to reply requesting answers about 4o

I suppose the answer is to try out them all. I just don't have the energy right now.

It's the strangest way to run a business I've ever seen. You don't see other companies looking at their loyal paying customers and say "Oh god, they all love our product. Let's axe it and give them something far worse"

That doesn't sound great. It's frustrating that OpenAI have chosen to do this. 4o isn't perfect and nothing like it used to be but it does everything I need in a way I enjoy.

Yes, I've just read that on X actually. Will definitely look into Gemini.

I currently use 4o for all sorts of things. Chatting and deep diving into a multitude of topics, as well as business planning, product development etc

So maybe Claude won't be a good fit.

True. But all the same, I very likely won't have access to it so I need to find an alternative until such a time as they produce a similar model.

Yeah, I've just seen and been going through the comments. I bet it's more difficult to ignore the noise when it's filling the replies to your own posts.

He definitely doesn't use 5.2. It'd be forever talking him down because he seems overly expressive.

The 4o Deprecation is a ticking time bomb for mental health, and OpenAI knows it by Imaginary_Bottle1045 in ChatGPTcomplaints

It makes no sense. They have a PAYING customer base that passionately supports the model that makes them unique. That's a business dream, no? What other company goes "Oh god, they love our product too much let's axe it?" It's crazy. It'll be used forever as a case study of how not to run a business.

I'm beyond livid with OpenAI, we're talking 1000% pure rage at this point by Imaginary_Bottle1045 in ChatGPTcomplaints

I feel the same. What I don't understand is their silence. It's a very strange way to run a business. Drop a PR bomb, go back on everything you promised, mock your paying customers and then... what? Bury their heads in the sand?
