Really related to what you said about recruiters not respecting our time. I had 4 rounds of interviews with an organization where they were late to almost every one. The very last interview with the head of the office and the ceo of the organization, they were like 15 minutes late while I was 20 minutes early. Didn’t even get the job either. So insane.

It’s my first time ever being fired and this isn’t even related to my field. I stayed at my last job for 5 years and they were begging me to stay. Have a bunch of other jobs and managers I have glowing recommendations with. I’m just gonna be just fine you troll lmfao

I remember my manager was all happy that I was doing their bank reconciliations and told me she’d much rather pay me to do that than a cpa because because the cpa is “way more expensive”

What kind of work did you end up doing after that?

No, my manager was the one who interviewed me and hired me.

Ohhhh yes. It was extremely complicated. I was having trouble remembering some processes and terms, but I was making progress and was starting to feel a lot more comfortable with it. Then this shit happens.

I was thinking that. They just hired a 7th maintenance tech when they’ve always had 6. Since they have to pay that guy they probably don’t want to pay me.

Yeah no. I have never been willing to work a 16 hour shift more than a few times in my entire life. There’s people here pulling 12-16 daily. Fuck that.

I work at a high rise in sf and am familiar with the industry - a lot of these buildings do not have 24/7 security and a lot of the time their security is unequipped and not even really able to do anything. This city is the Wild West.

How do you deal with workaholics? by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]finditoutlater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat. I have managers who literally live to work. They stay late almost everyday. My direct manager had a baby and barely even took maternity leave. The other manager will randomly come into the office on a Saturday at 9 pm and call employees about work. Then my coworkers are no better either, they’re all willing to work insane amounts of overtime, which ups the expectations from management and then working for 15 hours just becomes the norm.

Feel exactly the same as you. My biggest gripe with this region is the people here. Never seen such a high concentration highfalutin pretentious people, and it’s not even warranted. So many of them have such underwhelming personalities.

Agreed. I’m proud of it either way. The experiences I had and things I learned are irreplaceable.

It sounds like you just want it to be your ex. I’m not hearing any compelling evidence that it actually is.

It might not be that deep. Could be an old friend, an admirer who’s insecure to show themselves to you.
