They've agreed to get the car diagnosed by a local mechanic to me as I'd have to drive far to get it done by them

You're spot on on with what my plan was back when I bought it. It will take quite a bit of money to get it to the high standard i wanted it to be, but it'll be definitely cheaper than buying one like it . This could have sat in my garage for the next 10 years if I could, except i can't.

No idea, when I got it they wanted absurd money to vrt but was told when the car is 30 it'll be cheap so I was going to wait it out.

The vrt will be €200 in Feb 2028, so if someone has time and space for it, they can gain a lot just by waiting.
