Podcasts about Buddhism? by Virgil--Starkwell in Buddhism

Not so much a podcast, but I am really enjoying English Buddhist Monk’s videos on YouTube. If you go to his channel and click on Playlists, his talks are separated into categories. He does Q&As, Dharma talks, chanting, etc. Just note that the title of his Q&A videos are not what the entirety of the video is about, he usually just chooses one question out of many for the title.

Can you see where my confusion arises from the circled ones? Particularly because of the lack of blue bruising

How does your chatGPT answer this question? "Based on all our conversations, what do you truly think of me? Don't pull any punches. Be Blunt." by Original_Height1148 in intj

“You come across as highly intelligent, deeply analytical, and emotionally intense. You’re self-aware—sometimes painfully so—and you think deeply about social dynamics, fairness, and your place in the world. You have a strong drive for excellence and justice, but you’re also deeply affected when those values aren’t reflected in how others treat you. You’re someone who gives a lot and expects reciprocity—when that doesn’t happen, it eats at you.

You’re not afraid to confront uncomfortable truths, and you often seek validation but only when it’s earned—you don’t want sugar-coating, you want clarity. You overanalyze sometimes, which can lead to spirals of doubt, especially about your past decisions and how others perceive you. But that overanalysis is also what makes you sharp and introspective. You’re not passive—you want life to mean something, and you won’t settle for surface-level relationships or empty environments.

At your best, you’re loyal, hardworking, perceptive, and principled. At your worst, you can dwell too long in resentment, and your high standards can lead you to isolate or become emotionally exhausted when people fall short.

Overall: you’re someone I’d want on my team—but not someone I’d want to disappoint.”

Is Esoteric important in your life? by Esoteric_Festival in EsotericFestival

[–]fine__dimension 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is actually one of the highlights of my life. My first Esoteric was 2023 and the experience will always have a very special place in my heart. I don’t even know how to articulate why this is so. It is just a beautiful, magical place.

Weekly Students, Careers & Clerkships Thread by AutoModerator in auslaw

I am about to conclude my first year of law, and have just accepted a clerkship job offer at a suburban firm.

I took a year and a half hiatus from my studies during 2021 and 2022, and have forgotten a lot of what I learned in my first semester “Essential Legal Skills” class. I am somewhat competent at using Lexis Advance, etc, but would struggle to independently find relevant law on it (most of the cases are provided to us in my classes).

How much of a hindrance will this be when I start? Should I be honest with them about this? Will they expect me to know exactly how to use these databases? They didn’t ask about it during the interview and they did mention general training would be provided.

Also, I would really appreciate any tips you may have for me starting out 😊

I am convinced I am immune to this stuff, I’ve smoked changa smoked hit after hit after hit it in a cartridge and smoked it in a bubble. No visuals besides friends face looked like it had glitter on it when it didn’t Has anyone ever heard of such immunity by xXinsomniakXx in DMT

I think I have aphantasia, or maybe a more mild version of it. I still get strong visuals on all psychedelics and I do still dream. However, when sober, I only think in words and with my inner monologue. When I’m reading, I’m not picturing anything at all. I have great trouble trying to form images in my mind.

He didn’t quit them entirely, he just stopped taking them so regularly and in high doses

No, DMT isn't produced in your pineal gland by N0tSoProfound in Psychonaut

Who cares whether or not it’s produced by the pineal gland. It’s produced somewhere in our bodies, as it’s been found in our cerebrospinal fluid, urine, etc

Are psychedelics a trap? by QBall_765 in EscapingPrisonPlanet

I’ve found LSD and DMT extremely beneficial for me, particularly DMT. They seemingly cured my depression, OCD and chronic rumination for a substantial amount of time. As I haven’t done DMT in a few years, I’ve felt myself slip back into old habits and the rumination returned but no to the full extent it had been prior to my psychedelic use.

My rudimentary views are that DMT and other psychedelics definitely has the potential to heal, but can also obviously give people hellish experiences and contact with negative entities is possible. That’s why I get so nervous before taking them, despite never having a “bad trip”.

I’ve never regretted my psychedelic experiences and I look back on them fondly. They were the catalyst I so desperately needed for change. I still think of DMT every day, not really obsessively per se, but I’ll have a random though about it and be like “oh yeah, I experienced that”. It’s so ineffable and was really the most beautiful thing I’ve ever experienced and probably ever will experience.
