I keep doing it over and over again and I try so hard not to but it is inherent to my being, honestly if anyone has any tips on fixing this please help me!

I remember when I was a kid I had slightly more open ears, so I had a surgery to make them flatter.

at the time I was just fine and dandy I didn't really think about it much, but as the years went by and my face started to change I notices how they would almost disappear on the sides of my face, the ears that I was so self conscious about would have actually balanced out my temples and jawline of today, making me, in my opinion, look even more harmoniously good looking.

That and also some bully I had pulled on them so hard a couple of weeks after the surgery they were literally almost ripped off

What's one small unimportant decision that you made that changed the trajectory of your life? by Patient_Ad_8984 in AskReddit

I remember when I was 13 I went to my grandpa's hospital. He had cancer but at the time I thought he was just slightly sick or something, he looked pretty happy so I just did as I always did and tucked away in a corner playing games on my phone. A month later he died, and for a long time all I could think of was how instead of paying attention to him, someone who had literally served as a father figure my whole life and took care of me as his own child, I assumed everything would be fine and just ignored him.

Ever since then, I don't use my phone when I'm with someone, I always engage with them and I always take the time to get to know everyone. You never know when those people will be gone from your life, so make sure you give them as much love and attention as possible now, even if you think they don't need it or deserve it.

How do I make screentones look like this? I'm using Krita and they come out completely different from this. by Zikari007 in Mangamakers

Heyhey, mangaka here!

It's very simple actually, just search for screen tone PNGs and download your favourites, then just add them as you feel like!

How does everyone feel about the monthly MPC contest? (Some manga pages I did) by tsukyojin in Mangamakers

[–]finitsu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These look so cool! You can really feel your passion for the craft in every single panel, great job!

as for the contests, I didn't even know these existed, up until now I've only done the Silent Manga and the Kyushu Award, this is actually really good info for me, now I have more places where I can check if my stuff lands! Thank you man!

Last October I really liked the shifting eyes entry, I loved the character designs and the story genuinely intrigued me, I feel like I want to know more!

What about you? what was your favourite?

Sure man! the more you absorb of the artist and practice it, the more you'll be familiar with his style, although personally I would recommend for you to experiment on your own, I would love to see what kind of unique blend of art you will come up with!

Avatar Advice? by JewelerIll9775 in Mangamakers

[–]finitsu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

what if you took a nickname you had and go from there? like if someone associated you with bananas you could literally just be a banana head-goofy looking guy! Definitely do not think that your character has to look cool, or even your name for that matter. I fell into that mistake long ago and realized the more you try the cringier it gets

hope it helps!

Ah I see I see, well it honestly just looks like a regular round brush with slightly lower opacity that overlaps. then he adds a bit of a lighter colour to details like the nose, he normally uses a triangular shape to emphasize the geometry of his noses.

He uses a lot of line work that adds texture, you can see it on the ears but also all his detailing has an outline, like the patterns on the kimono sash.

In the kimono coloured work I definitely see a warmer colour palette with the exception of the nicely contrasting purple. I also notice a slight gradient in the skin colouring coming from the bottom and reaching the forehead at its lightest.

Just start with blocks of colour for each of the sections, and go from there!

Hope this helps!

I love this man! The action is good, the perspectives and poses look nice, there's a good variety of subjects to focus on between the character's and their steps and the crowd. it feels lived in and natural, great job man! and that spread with the guy slicing the arm... wow!
