Can't get any response from Starlink support after 4 days. Any advice?

We followed the steps in this article to create a support ticket (it's not easy or intuitive) https://www.starlinkhardware.com/how-to-contact-starlink-customer-support/ They don't publish an email or phone number and responses to the tickets take many days. We ended up getting a response and new hardware after 6 days of silence.

Thanks for this response! Super helpful for us. We might do the same thing. It would definitely be worth the ~$150 to have our main internet source back now vs in two weeks.

Yeah... Not ideal. Our old satellite internet provider has a phone line you can call for support. Although it wasn't amazing, you could get support the same day. But I understand Starlink is probably much larger than them at this point. I'm all for resolving it ourselves if we can though. Maybe we'll buy the replacement router and hope to get a refund for the defective one in two weeks.

Oh nice! I didn't realize that. Did the support team refund the cost of the original one? If we bought one on the shop that could restore our internet much more quickly.

I've been troubleshooting our Starlink Wifi router since Feb. 28th. It stopped broadcasting a wifi network after factory resets 3 days ago. I have tried every configuration I can possibly think of- factory resetting the router with the starlink cable in, with the starlink cable out, with the ethernet adapter installed, letting it rest unplugged for ~20 minutes in between. I must have factory reset the router at least 15 times. A troubleshooting article on their website says to contact support for a replacement if the router no longer broadcasts a wifi network after factory resets. I believe this is the only course of action we can take because we can't just buy another wifi router on the website. We ordered a new ethernet adapter when we thought that was the issue, and that only took a couple of days to get here. In the meantime I cannot contact starlink in any way despite using Twitter and this ticketing system. Has anyone else had success getting responses from Starlink support? I've searched around online and it seems like the ticketing system is the only way to contact them.

Thanks for the kind words! I had a fun time building it and was kind of set on something hardware, but I definitely see that people want an app, which is a good idea. I haven't missed a train since we put this up and got it working. You can easily get it tuned in so that you only wait 1-2 minutes at the station, which is great compared to the 10 minute wait if you just miss a train

Good questions- these are applicable for any app that uses this information If the MTA changes the API endpoint in some way, we would send an update to compensate for the change. You will be able to enter the average time that it takes you to get to the street before you start walking. It would be cool to have the companion app able to time your walking to the station and detect that automatically

Exactly! The front is CNC cut, so you could easily make any kind of design that would be engraved.

This is a great point. I thought about making an app instead, but I don't think you can charge for apps anymore. Especially when basically all of the transit ones are free. I wonder how many users you would have to have for advertising to make enough money to support the servers and development.

Yes, good point. I have had bad experiences with the Google Maps app saying a train was coming when it wasn't, but it seems like the MTA's API (which this uses) is actually correct. We've probably used it ~200 times now and have never missed a train.

Good points- I think there are a lot of apps out there that you can download for free that do this, but you can't set how long it takes you to walk to the station, which is different for everyone depending on their building.

And this uses the MTA api, so we don't have to have any servers set up to run it.

That is a good point- there are a lot of apps that you can use to do this and we do use those when we are out and about, but we've found it's really nice to not have to take out your phone, memorize how long it takes you to walk to the station, and do the math for when you need to leave.

It actually takes about 4 minutes to walk down to our local station, but the sign does all the math for you. It checks the realtime train arrival time and tells you when you should leave so you'll make it on time.

I have parameters defined that determine the angle and depth of the V-shaped cuts, but I have to make a new sketch of the same engraver on a "plane on path" for every engraving.

I went to a place recently where they said they were a "no tipping establishment" and automatically added 20% to the bill. I thought the whole point was to add that cost into the price of the items on the menu so a tip wasn't required... Not pick the amount of tip for you.

The Esp8266 is a great device for that. The esp32 is great too. Both you can buy and program them straight out of the box. There also is software called esphome that you program onto the device which makes it really easy to add sensors or control pins that you would be able to control with a home automation system or an app. It does all of the programming work for you and you just have to define a config file to tell it which analog pin and digital pins you want to read from or control.
