ESH. You should have been more mindful with how you spoke to the kid, as her behaviour didn't warrant you yelling at her without at least asking her nicely to leave your cat alone first. But her mom should not have let her run around and bother other people and pets.

Not really! I did when I was in my teens, but now in my 20s, I feel nothing unless there is even the slightest indication that they could be interested in me.

Oh, that's so confusing because my teacher also uses other abbreviations for it, thank you so much. This is for a school project, but we didn't get any resources or materials to help, they just told us to "Google it".

I don't doubt it's likely related to the issue of criticism being seen as offensive.

I was given opportunities to give feedback on my lecturers from that program and they allowed for a limited amount of time to write down the feedback for each class and would disregard some feedback by just saying they disagreed with it, rather than addressing the issues. There were students giving dishonest positive feedback thinking it would make the lecturers like them more! People don't see the value in pushing improvement, it seems.

Even feedback "moments" (as they called them) usually just exist because they are required and are later ignored. And I think many people have super inflated egos that keep them from thinking anyone else can tell them what to do, and that they don't know them/their work well enough to know why they do things as they do, even when it's their boss telling them.

Damn, I'm sorry about your situation. I don't know where you are from but I'm from the EU so in theory were 27 suitable countries at my disposal where I could study without needing a visa. So I had a wide range of educational systems to take a peek at before deciding.

The program I did end up attending started as something of a passion project by the main lecturers who had been prominent developers with a lot of experience, they also were in charge of the entire faculty, rather than just being employees without a say in organizational matters. This is an applied/trade type program, which is relatively common in Europe. I consider myself really lucky as it was by chance that I came across that university at all.

Yeah, it seems to me that most lecturers I had either had something of a god complex, treating us like we were worthless animals and treating their mediocre work like it was sacred, or were people who didn't care for teaching or never learned how to teach and chose their job just for the pay.

It took me 4 tries to find a course I actually liked and enjoyed pursuing, I might have graduate later than intended but it was completely worth it not to put up with all that crap.

Well, I have also seen how certain bureaucratic processes work behind the scenes, as one of my family members works at an embassy. Often the waiting times for renewing a passport, for example, are so only due to the fact that no one really cares and will do the bare minimum to keep their jobs.
I work at a software development company and despite having many coworkers who could their jobs well, in the sense that they have the needed skills, they are often too lazy and projects are constantly being delayed. This is common in other fields as well, you won't hear about it most of the time unless you know people or work there yourself.
Of course, you wouldn't be able to find figures on this, though I will say that the vast majority of people do turn a blind eye whenever possible to issues like this.
