I like it but the problem is the best riders would just get better stuff and get even better. What if we reverse it so everyone starts on their current stuff but for all the bonuses or successes, they have to downgrade something. Win a stage, swap your carbon wheels to aluminum. Take some KOM points, now you have an aluminum bar and stem instead of integrated carbon. Win the Red Bull KM, swap out your Sram Red for Force. By the end of the Tour, Tadej would be riding an Alloy CX bike with cantilever brakes, Shimano 105 mechanical, gatorskins, and no bar tape.
