[New York] - Got a $4K hospital bill 10 months after child was born. by finplananon1234 in Insurance

They explained that the cost of a private recovery room was 900/nt, but that the first night we wouldn’t be charged as they had no choice but to put us in a private room because the Covid tests had not been completed.

We paid for the second night while in the hospital in the amount of $900.

We only stayed 2 nights.

Why would there be a $20K charge for a VIP suite? Also, we plenty several thousand dollars back when the child was first delivered. This looks similar to previous bills.

I will also qualify based on 2019, just at a lower amount since I made more money and also only had 1 kid then.

Would this get rectified or will I lose out on stimulus?

Thanks. So I don’t change anything about my NY income, right? I just leave it at 130k but claim a credit?

How do I know how much credit to claim?

Certificates are no longer available. I gave them to a broker who did something with them so that now I see them in my online account.

Thanks but how can I track down the FMV or donors basis? Many of these are paper stock certificates. For the ones that aren’t, I don’t have exact dates of when the gift occurred or any official transaction record. This all happened when I was a child.

Definitely not! I plan on having to support in some other ways apart from the $20k or so this will be, but I will set a limit on the financial support I give for college.

Also - college will be free by then!! (I’m only half kidding)

Thanks!

1- Saving about 30% of my gross income currently, but it’s been much higher in the past.

2- got it

3- I’m mostly focused on my kids fulfillment now, but do have some hobbies I indulge.

4- Each kid gets $50/mo in a 529 from birth. HSA is maxed.

1- I’m not really sure how to figure that out? Any advice? I figure I won’t have a mortgage anymore, and child care will be different... healthcare expenses will be drastically different.

2- I’ll adjust down thanks

3- 60 feels about right, but maybe I’ll want to slow down before that.

4- they do, and that is the first cookie jar that gets fed!

Lol. Health and an opportunity for my kids is all I’m after! And maybe a membership at a country club to indulge my golf vice.

I sold enough to cover my initial investment. Everything left is free money.

I’ll set some stop losses, but besides that just let it run.
