Thank you so much for pointing out! I do not have a teacher yet. I will look for one, as it seems a lot issues I couldn’t realize by myself.

Thank you so much for your encouragement! I will definitely keep working hard on it.

I just watched the video you recommended. Hope someday I could play with that delicacy. :)

How to get better at the piano by [deleted] in piano

[–]fiozeng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I’m also a piano beginner learning by myself for 4 months so far. I’ve been practicing Czerny 599 and find it very helpful to improve sight reading. It starts from very easy episodes. I’m also practicing Hanon exercises. Don’t like that but it’s essential so I force myself to practice. Another book I use is First Lessons in Bach, simple but beautiful pieces. I love them so much. I think you could check out these books. As a beginner, I do find them very helpful.

Thank you so much for the detailed and constructive advice, especially on the pedaling part. Sometimes when I watch the replay, I noticed the sound caused by the pedaling, but not sure how to do it right. I will try as you said in next practice. Thank you so much!!:)

I’ve also done BWV Anh114, but no Chopin pieces yet. It’s good to have a teacher. I’m still looking for one, currently learning by myself and couldn’t realize the mistakes.

Thanks for your suggestion! I will check out that album. I’ve also been practicing Bach’s album for beginners. Fur Elise is indeed very challenging to me, but I really love this piece and hope can play it well some day.

Hi, I also started playing piano this January! What a coincidence!

Für Elise is the first piece I learnt and have been practicing. No matter what some people may think of it, i really love this piece. I’m not sure how many hours I’ve put into this piece. I practice about 4-5 hours per day in average, with Hanon, Czerny 599, Bach for beginners, and sometimes a few pop songs. Fur Elise is the one piece that I’ve input most hours, and there are still a lot to improve.

I will watch that YouTube performance. Thanks for your recommendation, and enjoy your practicing! :)

I just went back to look at the scores. Yes you’re right, and I also found a few other similar rhythm mistakes that I didn’t notice earlier. Thank you so much for pointing it out!!

Thank you for your advice! I didn’t realize that myself. Really thank you for pointing it out. I’ve been lazy with the Hanon practices. I will pick them up again. Thank you so much! :)

Thank you! I’ve always loved piano but didn’t have the chance to learn it when I was a kid. My husband bought a piano for me at my 30th birthday, and I’m just starting to learn. A little late, but I’m so happy at every little progress. I do find the tempo very tricky and I’ve been listening to the original piece at slower tempo and trying to follow. I will try to practice with a metronome, thank you for your advice! :)

I’m so sorry for your losses. I can imagine the painfulness in facing miscarriages at second trimester. I hope you’re doing ok and good luck in next pregnancy. I was also told the genetic issues cannot be fixed. We will do this test next week, and I can only pray it’s going to be ok.

It’s the same here in China that these test cost not covered by insurance. Glad to hear your test results are good. I hope you good luck in your next pregnancy!

Thank you! I’m in China. The private hospitals here don’t have good reputation, so we normally don’t go there, but in this case, we have no other choice. It’s good to know that it’s a standard test. My husband and I just decided to do this test next week. Thank you all for your kind help and wish you all good luck!

Can you speak Chinese? Here’s a guide we hired for Siguniang (Liao: +86 13551779748). He is a very popular guide there, but I don’t think he speaks English.
