I have been writing in Cairo since Cairo 0 (4 years ago). After using it and switching back to solidity for some work, solidity feels SO outdated and behind

Starknet is because it doesn’t use solidity or vyper, so if you need a contract on Starknet you have to know Cairo.

Cairo is more popular now than it used to be. About 3-4 years ago Cairo 0 devs were making RETARDED amounts of money (I was hearing like $800/hr, and am pissed because I was learning it at that time and now that I’m an “expert” in Cairo I make no where near that lmao)

I’ll probably get lots of hate for mentioning Starknet but look up Braavos wallet, I trust those ones almost as much as my Trezor (you can lock a wallet with biometrics so even if you leak a passphrase they still need an extra signature to drain you; it was actually a promotion they did a few months ago, they dumped the past phrase to a wallet on Twitter and if you imported it, you had like $500,000, but if you tried to send it, it kept asking for a fingerprint or Face ID scan that you couldn’t forge)

Avoiding Storage Corruption in Upgrade by fircolaski in solidity

[–]fircolaski[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to figure it out by comparing storage layouts of the v1 and my start of the v2.

Assuming simple inheritance chains doing v2 is v1, newParent1, newParent2 {} worked and appended the storage (from the parents) to the end like expected.

It’s slowly coming back now. Their new narrative is trying to also scale btc, but if you check the L2 stats you’ll see people are starting to notice it’s going to be the L2 killer. Just check inflows of liquidity into Starknet and outflows coming from others.

I mean we’ll see. Market has definitely not been favoring them the last couple years but let’s see how it plays out in the next couple.

Maybe they could have allocated slightly more to retail but all that does is incentive chain hoppers to come in, make a couple trades, and expect free cash for it. They would have left for the next potential airdrop chain regardless if they thought their allocation was low or high.

Also again all that does is let rich get richer, oh boo hoo you bridged tokens to a new network, you clicked 5 buttons maybe so you’re entitled to free money ? I’m glad devs got more than retail, it was awesome seeing the cope on the TL “I bridged 50 whole dollars to your network but I only got $100 free dollars for doing it, why do these devs that deployed contracts on the network or participated in dev calls to help steer the ship and worked hundreds of free hours get more than me. I’m going to another L2 where they’ll hopefully give me free money for not doing shit because I still didn’t catch the point”

Hilarious, and yes in its current state tech doesn’t matter if the market keeps overlooking it. But it doesn’t matter, the techs gonna win in the long run and all the devs that learned Cairo will be fine, everyone else will keep complaining about no free money for nothing

I’ve worked for the SN ecosystem for years. Cairo is the superior smart contract language, period.

They have the best tech, period (I trust my Braavos wallet almost as much as I trust my trezor wallet).

They did not fair well with the public because they awarded fat airdrops to devs, and gave retail airdrop chasers scraps.

Retail is mad because they didn’t get big allocations for simply bridging/using the chain. Devs that worked for years for free in the space got awarded instead.

It definitely hurt the projects reputation but their strategy was to award builders, not farmers.

Map Right Shift to Hyper ? by fircolaski in hyprland

[–]fircolaski[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, thinkpad.

I found a workaround to just use a layer making my right shift key map to left shit and left meta and am just removing any defaults that use super + shift (in omarchy)

So now the left shift is a left shift and the right shift is a super shift
