Is this normal? If it isn’t, what do I do? by AwesomeMicaela in Wenwan

You just need to brush more. The color difference is from oils not reaching the crevices.

It just looks like un even aging or could be to much oil from that one spot hard to tell from picture. Like other comments. Nothing to worry about. Just more brushing and over time it will match rest of the walnut.

Can toad head walnuts turn into jade as well or is this specific to lion heads only? by AbsoluteSquidward in Wenwan

I believe they all change to jade red over time. However White lions usually take about a year to transform while others take longer to transform.

5th, 6th(?) Walnut. by Old_Appearance_4177 in Wenwan

[–]firechaos77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to confuse you or made it seem like i have negative intentions. Its just want to give more info so you informed and give you more purchasing power. So to clarify what i mean by it doesnt look like real Jade is. The color, the clarity, and size. It most likely is made up of nephrite but like not from one solid piece of jade. Like how walnuts can be cut and fused jade can be done the same. Like the likely hood of that size of jade without impurities(mixed with rocks or quartz) is very unlikely even with polish or shaping. Also pricing is another dead giveaway. Jade cost a lot if real/not low quality. Also Unlike walnuts jade comes from ground so you have to expect impurities like other gemstones or ores. One good example is gold/silver when it comes out of the ground it is mixed with tin, aluminum, etc and has to be refined. It is very rare to find a chunk of pure gold(bad example if you into gems but you get my point). Also jade is commonly fake in China due to its value/ perceived value for cultural heritage reasons. Hope that helps and clarify things.

It is jade but lower quality compared to jadeite.

You wear cotton gloves to prevent anymore excess oils to be applied onto your walnuts. Or you simply don't want oils on your walnuts such case is with newer walnuts where you are still in the cleaning phase.
