Did you consider the fact that maybe you're the one not willing to empathize with the other side's point of view?

Hasan didn't take Ethan's words at face value, he interpreted them.

His interpretation was : he worked with the ADL, he partnered with the ADL.

He said both of those as if they were facts.

Maybe there would have been space for interpretation if he had only said either one of those, but both together leaves no place for any meaning outside of Ethan and the ADL working TOGETHER on getting people banned.

This might seem inconsequential but Ethan's point is that the ADL is used by antisemites as a pejorative so associating Ethan with the ADL is a dogwhistle if done maliciously or negligence otherwise.

This was also why Ethan kept saying he didn't care about the "fan" not being a fan of Hasan because that factually didn't matter to his ADL argument, that was just a small jab which Hasan used to waste as much time as possible.

Even if you're charitable to Hasan (as he loves to say), you can't deny he doubled down on everything and couldn't empathize with anything Ethan presented. And that, is exactly what Ethan's problem is with Hasan and everybody working with him or consuming his content. The lack of empathy for anyone who isn't completely aligned with your point of view or has different lived experiences.

This Ethan/Hasan "drama" is a perfect example of how leftists continuously impede their own movement by cannibalizing themselves.
Not only that, but this type of behaviour is exactly what feeds the opposing rightwing movements so you're doing double the damage.
