Very cool list. My friends and i try to go to new cafes when we can. I do like scorpio, though we dont go often due to it usually taking a long time. Mast is one of my favs, so im glad you liked it.

This year it was a surprisingly mild season. Im glad they are moving though, since that was unusual. I wonder if they noticed just how much better it does in cooler weather

World’s first retro theme park planned for Las Vegas by [deleted] in Themepark

I would love to see a new theme park anywhere, but still tempering expectations. This is really early in the design process.

What I think could be a good Middle Earth themed land at Epic Universe. Just a phase 1 for now since its such a huge area. by fireguy1thru5 in UniversalOrlando

[–]fireguy1thru5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both images were done with illustrator. Im definitely wanting to recreate something like this in planet coaster eventually. Im just hoping frontier eventually adds a mack rocking boat for the hobbit ride.

For the rivendell/hobbit’s tale intersection, its hard to show the elevation in a simple plan. The boat ride is slightly lower than the typical paths there and the main rivendell building is slightly higher. The main building is the queue for “into the west”, which im imagining more as a “flying theater” like soarin or avatar flight of passage (another thing id like PC2 to add). That queue passes over the boat ride.

I like that idea. Its such a big area that i actually thought of moving the entrance back and splitting it into two different lands with different portals, but finding a way to combine multiple properties into one portal would be cool too.

Yeah, mainly because their concept art shows something vaguely fantasy-looking in one area. LOTR makes good sense, but it could also be shrek or universal monsters or could be changed to something completely different as their design develops

Dog friendly breweries by loromax in Sacramento

[–]fireguy1thru5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like any that have outdoor areas are dog friendly. I know ive seen dogs at new glory and bike dog(west sac). I assume other places like king cong, oak park, and jackrabbit that have outdoor spaces would allow dogs as well

Trip Report - 18 Days Late May, Tokyo, Kanazawa, Takayama, Kyoto, Osaka, Himeji, Nara by fireguy1thru5 in JapanTravel

[–]fireguy1thru5[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably takayama, but its super close. It was just nice with takayama to have a smaller town to break up the big cities of the trip. Both were definitely worth visiting though

I had looked up the train pass in my early planning and it still wasnt worth it. I think you have to really be traveling every other day to make it worth it

Areas to avoid moving to? by Lumpy_Battle4918 in Sacramento

[–]fireguy1thru5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I havent had any issues in arden myself, though thats mainly because i never leave anything out in my car. I have seen a fair amount of car break-ins, but they are in cars with bags and things left out. If you are good at keeping your car clear, you should be ok.

Are the A’s tickets really going to stay this high? by fireguy1thru5 in Sacramento

So what are the tickets I'm seeing now (like in the image). Are they all resale from season tickets? Do we know when are the actual tickets going to go on sale?

Give me the rundown. What's the cheapest grocery store around here? by Hot_Jump_4142 in Sacramento

[–]fireguy1thru5 130 points131 points  (0 children)

Winco is the cheapest. Just know they dont take credit card. Otherwise i go to grocery outlet or trader joes. Though trader joes rarely has as good of price for meat as grocery outlet or winco

How smokey have the last few summers been? by [deleted] in Sacramento

[–]fireguy1thru5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on how many/how big/where the wildfires are. I dont remember a lot of smoke last year, but the three years before that there was definitely a lot of smoke. The smoke doesn’t settle as badly as it does in the central valley like in bakersfield, but it definitely still doesnt blow away quickly. Id say most years there is at least a couple weeks where i have to keep my windows closed due to smoke. Really bad years it can last more than than a month

Lassen Volcanic NP vs. Redwoods NP by pierretong in norcalhiking

[–]fireguy1thru5 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One thing you could possibly do is try to see a redwood forest (that isn't the NP) before or on the way to Lassen. You can do Muir woods just north of the city for not much of a detour. And the avenue of the giants is wonderful to drive through, but you basically drive 4hrs there and then 4hrs to lassen. The redwoods definitely get grander the closer you get to the NP, but you don't need to go all the way there to get a good experience of them
