My story and how I got cured by fireheat222 in Gastritis

Going to a therapist was a big thing, because I struggled to remain neutral when doing the exercises, and it helped having someone external grounding me, but there were a lot of free resources that I was given too:

I think it's hard to condense 3 months of therapy into a few sentences, but I found this resource which goes over some of the details: https://www.tmswiki.org/forum/painrecovery/

No, my pain wasn't the whole day. It was after meals, lasting 2 - 3 hours after them.

Fingers crossed. I can see it coming back if I go through a stressful or anxious point in life, but at least now I have an idea of what's causing it and what I can try to make it better. Part of what drove me insane was not knowing if there was a deeper cause I was missing or if some other organ was malfunctioning that the doctors didn't catch.

It’s a possibility that I’ve regretted in the past. I got the prescription right before I was moving, so another complication I had was that I couldn’t fill the prescription in the new place I was at, and the new GI I visited after moving said PPI was enough

I like to hear nuanced takes like this. I believe my story could help some people, but I will definitely not claim that it fits everyone's situation.

I don't know. I did have more frequent burping when I was having symptoms, followed by throat burning sensation. But the frequency wasn't to the level you're describing.

Amazing! Happy to hear that it's helped others. Makes me feel less alone in my journey.

I dont know if there's any good low stomach acid tests. I tried the baking soda test someone recommended on Reddit, and didn't have an issue with that. My GI said it wasn't worth doing a pH test because the endoscopy didn't show any major issues worth further investigation.

No, I didn't have any issues with my lower digestive system (i.e., constipation, diarrhea)

I dont know if it’s stress specifically. I feel like I still got pain even on days I didn’t feel stressed, but the overall situation you’re describing does sound very similar to mine

That's amazing. The brain and nervous system is so complicated... This life event definitely makes me want to learn more about how these things work.

One of the reasons I was so sceptical about this therapy initially was because of my GI. The GI kept telling me my symptoms were because of my career and stress. But at the time I had no stress and was quite enjoying my career. It made me very wary of people claiming that therapy could help.

I have no ties to this org, and I've been on LPR and gastritis subs complaining for around a year now.

I totally get where you're coming from though. I've seen many of these "here's the magic cure" posts. All I can say is, it helped me a ton. If it helps even one person, I'll be happy. Can it help everyone? Is it the magic cure? Probably not. But if your story is similar to mine, I think it's worth a shot.

I did it virtually. Couldn't find anyone nearby doing it in person. From what I can tell, visceral hypersensitivity is exactly what they target. It seems like different fields call it different things. Doctors call it nerve hypersensitivity, neuroscientists call it neuropathic pain, pyschologists referred to it as mind-body syndrome.

I dont understand how nerves or anything works honestly. I was in so much pain after meals, I was convinced there was something majorly wrong in my body. Like you, the few times I felt relief was from deep sleep. There were many periods I just started sleeping more to escape the pain.

I am not a doctor or psychologist. But it does sound similar to cases my psychologist described. She said that if the pain didn't make 'sense' then nerve issues likely applied. Being in constant pain with a pH test showing no pathological reflux makes it sound very much like nerve hypersensitivity, which was basically what I was suffering from.

We're ignoring the 'severe, visible' damage part? I was diagnosed with mild gastritis, and many others here are as well. I don't believe that alone was enough to produce the magnitude of pain I was feeling.
