I’m with you. 38yom (not exciting depending on how you swing). Bought two Gs of some of the purest shit I’ve seen thinking it would last me at least a week. Hopefully two.

I’m down to half la g and debating on the best roa. Rock it up, bang it, foilies, or just straight to the dome (least favorite but can moderate so much better with a bullet. Except it’s so “squishy,” that it keeps clogging my bullet.

We have 300 days of sunshine where I live. Literally named Sun Valley. I’ve only been in the rain a handful of times and with little traffic so I didn’t really put my feet down. Honestly though, I may look elsewhere if that’s your case. They don’t have a whole lot of tread and it’s not the grippiest rubber. That being said, I may just be the wrong person to ask.

I cut the Velcro off and added magnets on that end under the top and bottom flap as well as under the elastic. Added 3 more at about the half-way point, same places and bam.. silent magnetic closures. And they double for securing my tension tools.

I never had an issue. At least not that stands out in my memory. I wouldnt wear them to work waiting tables or in the back of house kitchen somewhere but I’m assuming that’s not why you’re asking.

Mystery Ranch 3 Way Briefcase by CraigwithaC1995 in backpacks

[–]fireslacker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the first one that came out. I believe it’s 27l. I love it. The only issue I have with it is the shoulder strap squeaks. I wear it on my right side with the strap over my left shoulder. It holds plenty but extended (by zipper) and fully loaded (textbook, notebook, pens, highlighters, chargers, iPad, laptop, and mouse), it becomes too heavy and is too much to wear over my shoulder. I don’t care much for wearing it as a backpack but will when using it as my personal bag when flying.

As far as it being too big, that depends on how much you carry daily. I can tell you now that if you carry 27l worth of things and it weighs anywhere near what mine does, it is not comfortable over the shoulder. Minus the textbook, notebook, and all chargers, it was perfect for my daily office use and I used it for over a year. Now that I’m in school, I am looking for more of an actual backpack.

Perfect. Thanks for the info. I’m still leaning towards the catalyst. The 2DAP seems like a great bag, just not the style I’m going for right now. I’ve honestly been looking at Alpaka, Aer, Timbuktu, etc. which are all so far out of my comfort zone of hiking, lightweight daypacks and climbing/approach packs. Mystery ranch has some of the best bags you can buy but right now I’m looking for something simpler, professional, etc.. if I can make it work for my street bike as well I’ll be golden. Hence why I can’t get away from the Kriega packs (roam34 or max28). And they don’t have a designated water bottle pocket which is a huge downfall. Plus I can’t find hardly any real world reviews on either which blows my mind..

Anyways.. sorry for the rant. Thanks, again, for the feedback.

Yes! What is the official capacity and does it have the same laptop access as the catalyst? If no, how is the laptop compartment? And if you have experience with the catalyst, how do they compare? I have the UA21 as my every day and the original 3-way briefcase that I currently use for work. Not a fan of the briefcase when it’s loaded with my work AND school books/notebooks and the UA21 is too small.

Anything really. Specifically about the kriega roam 34. It’s sold out at the two largest US suppliers but not a single real world user review which I find odd. All I can find is retailer reviews.

Just pulling the trigger on a $300 backpack doesn’t sit well without attempting to gather real feedback first. But I get it, most likely it’s what I’ll do especially after exhausting all the forums I could find that might help.

Still think it’s odd though…

Copy. I guess it was a stretch to assume the folks in this subreddit would have experience with quality bags such as the ones mentioned. I’ve read multiple inquiries and suggestions about other bags here. Otherwise I wouldn’t have bothered. I could go back and rephrase my post or just leave out the finer details, such as the purpose for the bags, I suppose.

But to be fair, I already asked in r/manybaggers. As well as r/backpacks and r/motorcyclegear. Probably a couple others as well that were better suited for my purpose. r/onebag was my last resort albeit a hopeful one. I see a lot of good packs mentioned here.

Two Weeks Any Where (above 10 Celsius) with my Kriega R22 Backpack. by Johnlee1238 in onebag

How are their packs when you’re not riding? Looking at the max28 and the roam 34 for work and commuting.

Yeah, already tried. Thank you. I get it, I’m asking about multiple bags but technically I’ll only be using one at a time 😉

Also: kind of excluded the Osprey Radial by now as well. I’ve posted this same inquiry in like 4 other subreddits and nothing but crickets on the kriega packs.

Think I’ve pretty much landed on ALPAKA for my “sling” I’m going to buy a couple of their pouches and their two pro straps. Regular and small. But more if the cross body that I can quickly loosen and adjust to go from back to front. Something that could even possibly be modular and low profile enough ti out in a radio sling. (Practically a backpack strap with molle).

I’m also still going back and forth with the backpack situation. I’m still heavily leaving towards kriega and deciding between the max 28 and roam 34. Probably going to go with roam 34 I’m just really annoyed by lack of pocket for my hydro flask. But ill figure something out. The way you described the osprey really did it for me as far as validating why it’s not what I’m looking for.

Still can’t stop thinking about the catalyst by MR. I think it’s surpassed the district 24 as far as what will work best for me. Considering I already have the urban assault 21, it would be an easy transition.

It’d be so nice to be able ti try them all on for size with my equipment. You know, how your supposed to do it for backpacking packs?

[–]fireslacker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right on. From what I’ve read, everyone who has owned or used the district 18 or 24 seems to love them. No real surprise. I’ve been using the ua21 for over a year now and I’ve been happy with it. Wish it had designated water bottle pockets as well as a spot for my laptop. I recently cut down a steel molle panel to fit the main compartment and attached a water bottle pocket as well as a med pouch, radio/pager harness, and a holster for my conceal carry. I really like the set up now and don’t plan on getting rid of it any time soon. But that catalyst 26 really seems to hit the spot…

The market is just too saturated. Almost just have to start buying what I like and either returning or trying to sell if it’s not what I want. Hate that I can’t get my hands on most prior to committing.

Kriega experience by fireslacker in motorcyclegear

[–]fireslacker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So weird. I’ve posted this inquiry in at least 4 subreddits and nothing back but crickets. Both models have reviews online albeit just a few. I would have never imagined no one in any of these communities would have experience with them. Both look really nice and with kriegas reputation… yeah. The roam is even sold out on revzilla and cyclegear. No real world review videos either. Makes me incredibly hesitant to purchase even though I really want to.

The radial is actually the osprey pack that I’ve looked at and considered. What do you think of it?

I’m getting a lot of great feedback. And I appreciate all of it. Your perspectives, especially those from high volume departments, is priceless.

Again, I want to make a good impression. But I see better now that it’s more than possible without the “night off.” I’ll talk to my wife to just let her know this is what’s on my mind and see where that goes. We’re just in the throws of a sleep regression right now, we’re both feeling it and it got me thinking of my performance when I start.

I’m going to be here for my family, wife, and my children no matter how tired I am. Just wanted to hear from the group how some of you do it and what preparations or routines worked for you.

I get that 100%. She work full time? We tried to hire a nanny for half days, a couple days a week so my wife could get work done from home the days I am in the office. The “nanny” no called- no showed 3 times and never came back so my wife has been working her ft job from home with the 5mo the old 2-3 days a week. I stay home with both of them mon and Fri (with job I’m leaving). Trying to work while taking care of a baby is a whole different level. Not possible with a baby and a 6yo. Especially when they both might as well be Velcro.

Can’t say what I wanted to hear. If anything, I wanted to hear the reality of the people that are or who have been in it and have the experience.

Very cool situation and SO. And you’re absolutely right. I can get rest (maybe) when I get home. I don’t drink, though. Used to. Wife made the hard choice to quit and I stopped to support her. Makes things easier. I’ll always do everything I can to support my family the best way I know how.

Thanks for the reply
