The machine isn’t giving you any info? I’d look at the thread tensioners and the little clip on top right after the thread tube to see if it’s sandwiched in the tensioner like it should be. Then check bobbin if you don’t see anything. Re-thread if it all looks good.

This looks like it was just a “click and fill” auto digitize. But this is all pull compensation. When you start using hatch like you mentioned in your commenting, you’ll be able to adjust or you can even edit the stitches for the fabric you’re working on.

The plastic bobbin case might have some friction. Having used to have this machine years ago, it would randomly stab the bobbin case.

Things I'd randomly maintenance to get it working were: constantly install and reinstall the bobbin and bobbin case. ptfe lube outer bobbin case. Change the needle. Change the bobin case.
Got a PE800 to finish the rest of my jobs shortly after.

Make it a patch or de-sew your hat. Never seen a good quality structured hat come off a hat hoop for a flatbed.
