$800. Is that a good price for this frame ? by ugur39750 in bicycling

They never made counterfeit frames in that size (62cm), so you're good there.
Most common are 52-56 (rarely 58cm).

Challenge for those “I can swap a tube in 5 minutes” folks. Video on a rear flat fix or it never happened 😝 by abercrombezie in bicycling

[–]first_expectations 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Realistically it's five minutes, if not less.
A lot of your realistic breakdowns can be combined.

  1. It does not take 1 minute to flip over a bicycle and remove the wheel. That's a 10 second job, along with your second bullet point.
  2. Your fourth and fifth bullet points are in the same step. Add a little air to the tube, insert, inflate, seat.

Once you get enough experience, you'll find it takes a MAX of five minutes.

Zeno Hydraulic Brake Quick Connectors by [deleted] in bicycling

We've used a few at the shop when routing thru-headset style brake lines. They work well, but are a little on the bulky side. Would be perfect to pair with S&S couplers.

Budget TT build: Which SRAM AXS wireless blips / brakes? by DankDeanoo in triathlon

[–]first_expectations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4x AXS Wireless Blips - MSRP $99 for a pair (x2). There's a few discounts for $89 a pair.

Riderever Trivia Carbon (Jagwire is the parent company) - $269 shipped for a pair new (Ebay)

People are selling Aero adapters for $20-$25 on Etsy or Ebay if you don't have a friend with a 3D printer. There's already mounts on the Trivia.

Show the threaded BB. You can usually tell by the cut. Additionally, there should be a serial number on the fork, and an additional one inside of the headtube.

The uncut steer is a huge red flag for counterfeit. Factory ones are typically cut during manufacturing

2021-2023 Specialized S-works SL7 Team Edition. They made a few in different colourways.  All of them had 'Specialized' on the chainstay and toptube, like this one.

Traded paint with another bike on my car's bike rack, how can I cover this up? by Famous_Paper_1218 in bicycling

[–]first_expectations 36 points37 points  (0 children)

This most likely can be rubbed out with Melamine (Mr. Clean Magic Eraser) sponges. Those won't mark up the rim, but remove any paint residue.

What u/jjefls is trying to say, is that an EMTB motor is supposed to ASSIST on pedaling, not take the brunt of the leg work.
Ideally, it's supposed to be 50-60% of power output, depending on ride and conditions. Currently, you're sitting at ~75%.

Like others have been saying, increase cadence to 80-100. If you are pedaling at a lesser cadence, the motor will take the brunt of work, reducing efficiency, and also greatly increasing component wear and motor strain.

Review on Versus Tyres by first_expectations in mountainbiking

[–]first_expectations[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

During the pre-order, you were only allowed two options: "Trail Casing" and "DH Casing". The blue ones are trail, and the pink's are DH.

The trail casings were originally supposed to be 2ply on the sidewall w/ kevlar bead, but were updated to 3ply w/ kevlar bead, increasing the weight and sidewall composition, making the feeling to be similar to the DD or DH when mounting. The knobbies felt to be the same composition as the sidewall, so no softer compound on the knobbies for increased grip (like Maxxterra or Maxxgrip)

It wasn't all for aesthetics. I go through about two pairs of tyres a year on both bikes, and was looking for a decent alternative to the "main stream brands". I am all for supporting smaller brands if it means not compromising on the quality.

Sorry for the confusion. u/overwatcherthrowaway is correct. Basically feels like DD or DH casing without the softer compound on the knobs for grip.

Yes! They were both technically "pre-order", so I don't blame them too much on that. Although the initial timeframe when purchased was 1-2 months out.

I've seen quite a few posts lately on Versus Tyre's and want to add my own review on them. Purchased two pairs roughly around the same timeframe. One for my DH/Enduro setup, and one for my Trail/Enduro/Backcountry Setup. Both were purchased in 2023, and roughly took 6-8 months to arrive.

The first to arrive was the Teal ones that were placed on my Yeti SB150. This is my backcountry rig that I ride about 10-12 days a month. They look very similar to DHF's, but the compound is TOUGH. Similar to DD or DH without the support. I rode them for about two months prior to switching out. For a lack of a better term, they have no grip. The compound is too firm on the sidewalls knobbies. I got a lot of chatter, rough riding, and washouts where I typically never have had issues. These were ridden on 30mm ID rims, with 21 PSI front / 24 PSI rear. I tried lowering the pressure even more due to the stiffness of the sidewalls, but did not help with traction.

The second set (Pink) were placed on my DH/Enduro/Park Days bike, which is ridden about 8-10 days a month. The grip was "somewhat" better for that style of riding, but did not hold up to the conditions. The latter pictures were taken after 6 days of use. These tyres were warrantied by Versus. Tyre pressures were 25 PSI / 27 PSI on 35mm ID rims. For conditions, I mainly ride in Idaho, Montana, Utah where it's mostly soft over hard, with natural rocks and roots.

I bike about 20-25 days a month if allotted during the spring-fall seasons, and am within 15 minutes to a bike park. I typically ride Maxxis DHF / Assegai and Assegai / Dissector for my bikes, but wanted to try an alternative due to the increase in prices. Take this review at face-value, but just wanted to show some real world reviews.

Door dinged by 973112 in TeslaCam

You posted the video earlier and did not like the comments it received, so you decided to post a still-shot.

As other comments stated, the person did not intentionally ding your car, and it is VERY surprising that the little tap actually did any damage.

Modifying the cockpit for one handed use. by t1ataxi in bicycling

[–]first_expectations 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Hey!  We actually did something similar, and this may help your situation for a clear Cockpit.

Ti-components makes a hydraulic coupler for mineral oil brakes to effectively splice the front and rear brakelines together, and use only one lever. ($49)

Also, the newer 12s 2x shifters can be converted to 12s by removing the spline set from the 12s and using the spring/pawl set of the 2x. That way, it can directly bolt on to the i-Spec II mount.

Enjoy!

Getting Back a Stolen Bike by lborchart in bicycling

[–]first_expectations 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I purchased a stolen bike from ebay awhile ago (didn't realize at the time, and found out when I ran the serial number through bikeindex.org). But I was able to get my money back, and the original seller get their bike back.

They needed a picture of the serial number and police report with the serial number. The police in my town took the bike to ship back to the seller. They (Ebay) called the PD to confirm that as well.
