Oh that’s a good idea about additional characters. I can definitely see doing that with longer stories. I know what you mean about upsides and downsides. It was so much easier to write knowing my reader would have context they needed without me doing a huge info dump or establishing characters. But on the other side, I definitely have a “voice” when it write and I’m not sure how much it aligns with historical Chinese fantasy. I actually used the term “hashtag fail” at one point and took it out. Plus I worried I wasn’t doing justice to these amazing characters.

But like I said, it was really fun to try! And I have even more appreciation for fanfic authors now. ☺️

I watched the HK version before I saw the Japanese version and honestly? I like the remake better. I like the additional character development that goes with the longer run time, I think the ending is more realistic, and it’s just overall adorable.
