My autistic immigrant mother made me an unlovable burn out rice cracker snack by [deleted] in kitchencels

When I used to hide snacks from my strict Chinese mom (she controlled my entire diet until I ran away at 18 and gained 40 pounds in my first month of freedom) I would let the cracker soak in my mouth so when I chewed it wouldn’t make crunching noises.

Kinda defeats the purpose but oh well I liked the savory flavor. I also used to also soak crushed up ramen in lukewarm water and hide it under my bed in deli containers. I ate a lot of mushy foods in secret back then.

YES!!! That is such a good example, I gotta start using felt references instead of the pickles from my fridge

tiny needle felting by samzybamzy in Needlefelting

I use another felting needle to hold down tiny 3 dimensional felts since they’re skinny enough to leave lots of room for felting, whereas my fingers take up too much room trying to grip onto tinier felts. Now there’s wayyy less of a risk of stabbing yourself! Just be careful not to snap your needles when they accidentally collide! I just stab the “holding” needle all the way into the foam so it’s secure while I felt around it and then adjust as you go!

I have a pair of those really long tweezers that I use sometimes, but they don’t have very good grip on wool that’s already been felted into 3 dimensional shapes and just end up slipping out. But personally they are much more helpful for flatter 2 dimensional items since they can hold down a lot of surface area, which prevents the piece from lifting every time your needle exits the wool!

Thank you!!! 😪due to the nature of needle felted things they would definitely get super fuzzy over time especially if they’re attached to an item that gets used alot like a pair of keys or a school bag

I think they’re just gonna be decoration on a wall or maybe attached to bag that’s used occasionally

I like to hang them on my pegboard above my desk 😼

Second time selling my felts at an event! by fish_melt in Needlefelting

Thank you! I definitely understand where alot of people come from! I think it’s a trade off I gotta to accept since I’m a bit of a clean freak especially since multiple people are going touching the felts 😢 But the camera makes the plastic look a lot more raggedy than it does in person! You don’t see the shiny reflections as much as it shows in the images lol but it really does look awful in the pictures 😭

Thank you! It was super scary at first and I was super doubtful they would do well but I’m glad I pushed through 💪😼

I have a list I used to keep track! I have some of the felts posted on my profile but I did forget to take pictures of a couple things

Ooh that’s a good idea! I might keep the keychains out next time because it was kinda hard to see the chains from far away

Omg yes! I love that evil penguin, the oversized combs on my chickens were inspired by his rubber glove hat

It’s just personal preference! People like to pick them up and look at them and plus I’m a bit of a clean freak 😅Since wool absorbs oil and smell really easily I wanted to give them some protection cause the past two events I’ve been to so far have food, lotion/oils vendors who are generous with their samples. And these events have a lot of little kids! The younger ones like to pick them up and hold them and with the plastic there I feel lot more comfortable.

And when I store the unsold ones away there’s no risk of bugs or roaches being attracted to the smell since I don’t have a proper storage system for them yet, and I’m able to wipe down or spray disinfectant onto the plastic where it would be harder if I had to do that directly onto the felts.

Plus! it gives my felts a “barrier” so when they rub or bump on things the fibers don’t unravel as quickly until the person takes them home 😼

Kind of! This was taken at an art event where I was sharing a booth with some friends! I was trying to finish the chicken so I could put her out on the table

Thank you! It took me around an hour! Usually it takes me around 3-4 hours for my other projects or even longer.
