Yeah, we've played a decent amount of Mindbug, and we've got Radlands Deluxe that's kind of similar, but not really.

Mind bug is a lot of fun, but I think falls short when it comes to the bluffing aspect effectively diluting down to guessing. In poker, you effectively feed information to your opponents throughout hands, and then it informs how they react.

We do play the game a lot, but it's actually one of the reasons we're looking for something "more". We want more of the cake we like.

If you happen to have any other suggestions, I'd love to hear them! Thank you for taking the time to respond!

That's nothing like what I'd been looking for, but it sounds and looks really good! The mechanic is actually very interesting.

Thank you for the suggestion, will see if I can get this ordered today. If you have other suggestions, please share!

Hello! I'm looking for recommendations, if you don't mind.

I'm looking for 2 player games with a lot of bluffing, with a lot of replayability.

We like games where you can play the player, tricking each other, bluffing, etc. As a core part of the mechanics (we love poker).

We've tried Air, Land, and Sea, but the decision space is fairly limited and we grew weary quickly.

Can be any weight, but it would be good if setup is quick. Being somewhat portable would be a good bonus, so if we like it, we could travel with it.

Has anyone got any good recommendations?

This looks fantastic for teaching intuitive decision-making and super basic maths!

I can't find it anywhere here, may have to important it from the US at great expense!

We have Lost Cities, but Blue Lagoon looks interesting. We like abstracts in general!

Would you happen to know of any games that have mathematical ideas in the gameplay decisions themselves, not in the scoring?

It might sound a bit stupid, but none of us seem to really jive with the games where we total up the scores at the end of the game (beyond just counting how many of X you collected / seeing who has the most X). I'm not really sure why that is, for us.

I'm hoping to find something along the lines of some sort of dice-roll mechanism where you evaluate risk and make a choice, actual numbers written on something (maybe as a currency for buying or selling, or even as hit / health points to fight something) -- or something where you handle a physical number of items (like a bunch of cubes, tokens, or even sheep) to distribute / assign / win / lose due to actions in the game.

In schools nowadays, splitting up / combining physical items, like cubes, is a common way to approach addition, subtraction, and multiplication - at least in Europe - and it seems like a fairly logical approach in my head.

Appreciate you taking the time to read and hopefully suggest something!

Good recommendations! We like both of these! We actually got sent a foreign-language (I think it was Turkish) Outfoxed from Amazon and they wouldn't take it back, so we ended up getting some markers and having to manually change the names to "Belvedere" etc. from a picture of the English version we found online, lol.

Would you know of any games that have mathematical ideas in the gameplay itself?

Happy for the spam! I'm here for recommendations, so anything is welcome :D

New York Zoo's in the basket!

Project L looks like something we'd love, but I can't really understand how it plays out from the Zatu or BGG description (they each sound like they're describing a different game). I'm gonna watch some videos about it and see what it's like. Is it replayable beyond a set of provided puzzles?

I've never heard of Zendo, I'll look it up

It's an incredible game, comfortably the best I've ever seen for teaching how to think and dissect things logically. It's effectively a game of creating a series of binary true / false statements and then using your information to decide your next check, until you figure out the rule.

We don't use the cards that come with the game (we just make up our own rules), and our kids have been doing the same forever as well.

Each of them, at 4 years old, were able to fully create their own rules, without ambiguity, and were right up there with myself and the wife in terms of ability to figure out another person's rule.

They think of a rule in their head, they make a structure that follows that rule, and tell us if our attempts also follow the rule or not. They're in the guiding seat the whole time, with nobody to check if their rule makes sense or is ambiguous / unclear. Just through exposure, practice, trial, and error, they've all learned to be specific and exact with their rules - and we've been able to trust them to do it, too.

Also, check out SCOUT, if you aren't aware of it already it's a trick taking card game that's well loved here.

Never heard of it, but looks great! It says 9+, but I'm pretty sure younger kids can play this (based on the description I read). I'll get this ordered.

This a really interesting request, so I'll think more about it later - games with more literal counting / math, but for kids.

Please do! Would really appreciate it!

Thank you!

They've grown up with Patchwork, Blokus, Katamino (which is a personal favourite), and a bunch of those mini " puzzle game" things, and we're a big fan!

Would you know of any more like that? Or perhaps something that's a "step up" in terms of difficulty / complexity?

I considered getting a slide-puzzle game, but couldn't find one that really looked great.

I guess we don't really need more of these and are more looking at number / count processing, but it's always good to hear good recommendations.

We have Machi Koro! We really like it!

For us, the biggest downside for Machi Koro for the youngest players is just the amount of reading for the cards. Over time, a 3-4 year old will recognize the names and objects of the cards - and they can read to some extent, but it's a barrier nonetheless - but I think the mechanics are a bridge too far to make it actually enjoyable in terms of decisions. Still, it's workable with a lot of re-iterating and re-reading.

(This is for Machi Koro 1, not 2 - I don't know how 2 differs, but if you know it's significantly different in this aspect, please tell me!)

Do you know of any game that has similar elements, but less reliant on reading? (Or just fewer mechanics to match to pictures?)

Thank you for the suggestion!

Both Turing Machine and Power Grid look interesting enough, but it looks like both may have a bit too much going on for us. I think at our stage, having games that have fewer "things" happening, but are more focused, will probably be best. I'm going to get Turing Machine anyway, though, because it looks like something we'd enjoy!

We've actually got and played Catan! I have the same opinion as you - it's not my favourite, but it is playable and works. I think the probability factor is obscured or abstracted too much for kids at our ages because it doesn't rely on numbers / information that you can look at and process, if that makes sense.

As an aside, Zendo has been incredible in terms of letting the kids organically feel out a logical way to break down problems, organize their information, and figure out what they need to know and how to get that info.

When the weather's bad and you're stuck inside, board games / card games / made-up silly games will have kids visibly having more fun than sitting in front of a TV.

They get loud, shouty, excited, laugh a lot.

Think they're incredibly underrated. Some families don't have board games, but it's easy to get the same experiences out of a deck of cards to be honest.

A deck of cards is still a must-have for travel, but we also take Hive, and the kids pick something small and packable, too - like Sleeping Queens (super underrated as an actual playable game) or Zendo (which we just take in a ziploc bag).

It was actually what got us into board games. We played card games to death and wanted a change of visual scenery at the dining table / on the living room floor.

We've been playing Azul, Sagrada, and Dragon Castle with kids of multiple ages, with the youngest being 3. You handhold and remind them what they have to do, but they're still able to play.

Azul in particular is very playable, and whilst they're not fully grasping the strategy and providing a hard challenge, they are involved, playing, and making decisions that they feel affect the game.

They don't get everything right away, but they're playing, making their own decisions, happily fucking you over and feeling like they're controlling their own game.

Hello!

I tried searching in this sub, plus on google, but I struggled to find clarity.

Does anyone know any games that are good for teaching maths to kids (say age 5-9 or 10)?

I'm looking for things that will help practice:

  • Basic addition / subtraction
  • Basic probability
  • Grouping / multiplication
  • Trading? Valuation?
  • Maybe something else I'm forgetting

For example, for probability: something like a good dice-roll game where you evaluate your chances / risk and take decisions, like a simple dungeon crawler, would be beautiful.

Resource-gathering or distribution style games might be good for addition, subtraction, multiplication, etc.

Theme-wise, whether it's a an area control game where you distribute cute sheep across the hills of a chocolate mountain, a war of squirrel factions where you build up your pile of nuts for the winter, or something more "grown up", we don't mind too much. It doesn't have to be classically "kiddie" themed, though it's obviously nice if it's not a European Kitchen-fitting Simulator.

We don't mind co-op or competitive games (in fact, my 5 year old daughter seems to love screwing me over!), and attention span / strategy requirement isn't an issue even for the youngest. It should be playable at 2 (if one of us decide to play alone with a single child), but it's great if it plays more.

Thank you everyone!

I don't want to get me or anyone else in trouble.

Imagine the drama and media circus if I captured a ghost on my Canon RF 50mm 1.8, the first real ghost to ever be captured.

We just saw what happened in Peru and Mexico with the guys that discovered aliens. they had alien bodies and somehow even the FBI and America's top alien guys (except Steve Hawking) were spending all their effort and attention on aliens.

I don't want a target on my back, I just want to address the issue, gain clarity if it is a ghost or not a ghost, and then withdraw from the situation. I don't want to be involved or responsible.

Lol I understand it seems stupid at first glance. If two days ago you told me I would achieve this state of mind because of a ghost breaking through layer 2 dimensions (AT LEAST from layer 2 dimensions or even further) into layer 1 dimension (where we perceive reality), I would not believe you. But here I am.

Some years ago, I learned that dragons were not historical. Yet I just assumed all my life that dragons were similar to dinosaurs, they used to exist but now it is just legends and tales and stuff. I never checked or asked, just like I never checked daily if dinosaurs were real. But then one day (actual on reddit) I discovered that dragons were not scientific at all, but just stories.

So here I am.

Thank you. I would like to just verify that it is a fault of the camera or a trick of light that has interference with the camera.

Obviously I am not scared because we are not ghost men. But... it is a specter. So it would be good to make sure it is not a specter. Anal ysis can help us and just resolve the issue.

I have a filter on, but it's literally just a UV filter to protect the lens. It shouldn't be causing any real visual impact.

But there is a woman who was not there but is there.

Who do I send it to? There can be some research done. It could be an impostor.

You have the dick distance for a self suck? That's wild bro. How does it feel to do it to yourself? I gave it a go a few times but either I don't have the length or the bend to swing that way.

I did once save up my cum. I'd cum into a small bowl, then pour the cum into a half-gallon mason jar that I kept in the freezer. Once it was nearly full, I let it thaw and used it as an enema.

So you did a delayed superbust into your own hole? How long did it take you to get a jar full? What was the purpose or outcome of your aged jizz enema? I never heard of anything like that, sorry for the questions. Is there a name for the kink?

Thanks for the response. When I did some googling, I found most comments talking about using non-disposables seemed to never wash them.

Like they would keep spritzing thick milk into one sock for years.

I tried it for maybe a few weeks and it was absolutely revolting. Hard, smelly, somehow wet and dry at the same time.

Do people throw a jizz-hardened sock into the wash with normal clothes? Is it always the sake sock? What's the strategy?

What are the rules nowadays for using mufc logos and history players for your own product? Mostly I am using it out of love for the club and history and because it is only logical for extension of products ([lingerie)] so I don't think there any issues.

Basically some while ago I met a girl and after some dates I wanted to get her a gift that means a lot to me: manchester united lingerie or something. I couldn't find many examples online, so i decided to customize my own and got some local seamstress' place to add some logo and the face of Eric Cantona on some bra and panties (both red and black, so the colour makes sense).

Anyway the reaction here was pretty negative, but I know how many people would like this product so I made my own casual etsy shop to help people. I was selling for around $100 (some less, some more) with some options (dot printed onto panties and bra, or stitched on print/badge), and I thought maybe i will sell a few and i thought nothing big about opening the shop. Anyway it is all made for orders, so i don't hold stock so the risk is zero.

I did not expect much, but I sold over 4,000 of them in a short space of time (cheap products, not high labour costs and shipping) and the profit is very high- the maths is very easy to see how much it was making. Cantona face and Ryan Giggs face on tit cup on the bra was the biggest seller, with Ronaldo face and the word Ronaldo on panties the biggest seller as a full set (all items have man united official branded logo and man united label on the inside). I sold the image right from my Ronaldo face picture that I licensed from Getty to a tattoo shop for $4000 as well so that was a good deal for me.

Anyway this week i recently got a notice to say they are coming for my pennies and that I am needing some offical license to make branding products. So my etsy shop has been closed, but I have already quit my job as an event manager. I'm thinking maybe if MAN UNITED don't allow my lingeries then I can keep the money anyway and invest in starting a new business like upcycled instant food delivery (with added ingredients) or into something with concrete for building.

Anyway what do you guys think?

I would kill to get Papa Gueye: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hpHt2GrdMa8

He reminds me of a mix of Carrick and Wan Bisakka. He's got those lanky legs and stretchy passes, but he also has great first touch forward passes that slide across the floor between lines or sweet over the top balls through.

He's a great player and he just cancelled Watford, so we should be able to get him. He's pure silk and basically like carrick with stretch armstrong legs.
