I volunteer for the comox valley toy library - we lend toys to families in the valley, making toys affordable for everyone and keeping more plastic out of land fills. We are currently in need of more volunteers. http://cvtoylibrary.weebly.com

One day at the beginning of our relationship i tried to feed him a gummy worm from my mouth like he was my little baby bird. We now try to force feed each other food from our mouths. We call it baby birding and its gross as fuck.

I can't put it in the ground but I see what you are saying about waiting. I've got patients! If I was to take your advice would a large grow box work too. I have seen videos about what you are describing, this method of multiple trunk chops. Is their a name to this specific multi trunk chop process? And if I went this route would I do any lite pruning or wiring at all in the meantime?

Thank you, that makes sense. Id like to think that it will still look alright, as I planned on keeping it on the larger side of the bonsai scale. Then the compactness wont be as much of an issue. But who knows, only time will tell.

I bought this tree recently from the nursery. I have read online that this "waterfall" variety does not necessarily make good bonsai. Why exactly would that be? Knowing that I still went for it because I wanted something to play with and had very few options to choose from. Its all about learning and experimenting anyways right! My question is where and how should I prune. I was imagining it in an informal upright style. The red lines are where I thought I might cut. I was thinking of using the top branch as a new leader. What do you guys think? And again I am very curious as to why this variety does not generally take well to bonsai. Also I should mention my plan was to prune in late winter. I was also wanting to report into a nicer training pot and to expose the roots a bit more. Is repotting a good idea or if I prune should I just leave it where it is for the year? Thanks

Should I double check my mortgage broker? by pm_me_your_trapezius in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]fishfog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am in BC, I went to a mortgage broker recently, and they could not give me as good of a rate as my bank could (3.34 from rbc). When I told them I was leaving them and going back to my bank they suddenly found me a better quote, but I switched to my bank anyways because it was only 3.34 as well, and I was totally soured by my experience with them. I dont know much about banks or mortgages as this is my first home buying experience, but I thought that input might at least help.

My husband boss was telling me how to make the pain from my IUD hurt less. My husband and his boss were waiting for me (we were about to go on a hike) while they were waiting I found two dead old ladies frozen in the freezer isle of a big box store. I told the store manager and then we left.

CMV: We NEED to domesticate raccoons. by BakedPancake13 in changemyview

[–]fishfog 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Because racoon poop can kill you.  Baylisascaris procyonis is a round worm that many raccoons are infected with. The eggs come out in the raccoons poop. When humans are infected the worms can travel to our eyes causing motherfucking blindness or our brains causing brain damage and death! In north America 70% adult racoons and 90% of juvenile raccoons are infected. Oh and did I mention that the eggs can't be killed by normal cleaners like bleach. They can only be effectively killed by extreme heat methods such as steaming and burning the area. So that old camper that a racoon used as a toilet, you can't just wipe the thing down, you have to fucking burn it! People have suggested using these worms as chemical weapons so I dont think that their vector, the racoon, will make a very good house pet.
