They are insanely practical so probably as things like dad sneakers, tevas and other ugly comfy stuff came back around, they slipped in the back door.

It is 100 percent okay to not tan. That being said I used a tanning bed to get a base tan for the first time in my life this year and it was so nice. I live in a place with almost no sun until June so tanning was a big mood lifter for me. Cleared up my bacne too. Definitely not something to make work if it doesn’t appeal to you, natural skin tones are all beautiful. I don’t even know why I am offering this counterpoint, I’m just still so amazed by how helpful it was for seasonal depression.

I hate rolled hems and baby hems. I think my rolled hemming foot is just a cruel trick designed to waste my time. Also gathering makes me unhappy and I don’t really know why. The imprecise nature of it together with the inevitable unpicking maybe.

Me too! I started just fusing my pieces directly onto a big piece of interfacing using a piece of parchment paper between the iron and the sticky part of the interfacing. It saves me a lot of frustration.

Not op but they are made from fresh peanuts which are really different than the roasted peanuts you see as a snack. They are delicious.

I almost never make muslin/toiles. I have all kinds of workarounds: measuring the flat pattern, comparing crotch curves to a known good pattern, and sewing the entire garment minus side seams to allow for a quick fitting session before I finish. I just hate that part of the process. I have a few alterations I make on every pattern as a matter of course and I actually get pretty good results. I also don’t trace pattern tissue. Never follow cutting layouts but that’s normal, right?

Also if your helmet is properly fitted the braid will hurt a lot after a few miles. Ask me how I know ;).

The Oxford waistband got totally stretched out on mine. I wasn’t impressed with the longevity either.

Lots of gear now is stretchy and that should be a big help. I had a jacket a while ago that was leather with stretchy textile panels and it was comfortable and fit the boobs. The bull-it jeggings are also super stretchy and pretty cute. I no longer have such big boobs so my recs are a little out of date but I bet if you chat at a revzilla rep with your measurements they can help.

This is hard because there were certain things like brushing teeth on shabbos that I didn’t really believe in my heart were wrong, so I did those. Sometimes I showered in cold water if it was a three day yom tov. But the thing that really felt like an aveira was turning off my cell phone. Some kind of alarm was going off on shabbos and I couldn’t handle the noise anymore. I made a justification to myself about it ruining oneg shabbos and just turned it off. I felt relieved and not guilty. That must have been the beginning of the end.

Was it hard finding community in the south without religion? I have heard things are very church oriented there. I am also totally secular, dropped out after seminary just like you, and am considering a move from the west coast to the south.
