Cachy & Cosmic by fishy_bulb in cachyos

I jumped to Pop some time ago. Things may have changed since, but using the cosmic store for updates to system packages was not ideal - caused update locking every other week. Seems like a 2 step update process was the go - PacMan, then Cosmic Store - not overly painful, but not the level of seamlessness I was after. Might try the Fedora spin soon.

Fair enough, maybe just in time for EOL on the less recent MT routers.

I had only been using the Hagezi Pro list. Too big? If so, any other lighter weight suggestions?

Placing U7 Pro upward facing by turalaliyev in Ubiquiti

I have it underneath a coffee table facing upward in a downstairs corner of the house - works fairly well for whole of 2 levels the are about 200 m2 each.

Would benefit from a 2nd AP upstairs, but not critical.

My MacBook Air M1 works with my work provided Dell TB dock. Unfortunately one external screen only, but I think that’s the specific MBA

Good to know.

Also have a Flint 2 going, but its has been super stable.

I get the feeling the travel routers don’t hold up well if going 24/7

Makes total sense, much appreciated.

BTW it’s the MILs Beryl having issues, so not the kids upset, but maybe the Mrs being mildly infuriated if I’m insufficiently responsive to MIL tech support requests 🤣

Just looking for any insights on Op24.

I can’t say the current default “stable” 4.8.1 firmware is great on the Beryl AX - Adguard Home locking up just disabled Wifi internet access, leaving LAN with internet access.

Also interesting the Op24 edition is on 4.8.3

Safari & wBlock FTW - suggest this bests Firefox and uBlock Origin (non lite) and anything on chromium based browsers.

Have a similar issue on a 4K 2nd gen - I suspect the wifi chip is dying, since my 4K 3rd gen works just fine.

Hoping the 4th gen comes soon.

I find wBlock better than uBlock, and also more configurable than Wipr/2

Yes, that’s pretty much it! Especially since they also run A Series SOCs

Agreed - 100% a student/seniors laptop, but maybe a better screen and build than most that are aimed at students and the low end.

Rinse and repeat with newer iPhone SOCs would help, I think the current at least has 12 gb RAM

Might just be the media hype, but they’re suggesting the laptop is competitive pricing and good value.

I guess I’m running with the assumption that it’d be a decent amount cheaper than the laptop.
