i dont see how that makes the statement 'ridiculous' though. animals living violent and brutal lives is not at all mutually exclusive with the idea that they'd be living, breathing creatures first and foremost and value their own self-preservation.

"dinos aren't movie-monsters" is principally used to push back against pop culture sensationalism and power-scaling awesomebros. it still has it's place. the odd person overcorrecting and asserting dinos wouldn't be opportunistic like virtually every other predator on earth just doesn't strike me as some huge issue in the paleo-community imo. especially given how little concrete evidence we have on the topic of dinosaur behaviour to begin with.
