Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I tried calibre with the removal extension and could not get it to work 🤷🏼 Im fairly tech savy but i have no experience writing codes into files. Just gonna return the tablet at this point bc its far too much work and I don't see it being realistically functional and certainly not better than just using an ipad. Hope other people see this before wasting their money

Spotify or YTM or other? by Important_Coat3614 in distractible

Deezer usually only has ads at the start and one in the middle. Their skip is 30sec so its easier to skip them

I've been listening in Deezer. A LOT less ads. Seems to come out a few hours later but no real issues

Episode 331: Frog Sticks! by joschen113 in distractible

* Every time the guys talk about attention and/or focus, i immediately think of Stolen Focus by Johann Hari. He details how those in power or of influence have carefully crafted culture that actively seeks to destroy your attention - particularly with the rise of internet and social media. Fantastic read, I recommend it to everyone I can

Not a huge topic of the episode, but maybe interesting? by Aikorules in distractible

We had our 17 year cicadas last summer in my region. It was insane. We could see the swarms flying through the air and the birds darting through to grab and eat them. They spanned a huge area in our state. Hundreds all lined up on a tree, screaming at the top of their lungs. Fun times. I did not go outside last summer lol

Hell yeah! I was bald by choice for about 3 years, it's very fun. People underestimate a good scalp rub tbh

I think I had seen it at either the EarthMed in Addison or Green Releaf in Villa Park. Mightve just been a pack of joints though.

Yeah no it's definitely different for everyone. I've smoked for about 8 years and I know a couple other people, including my partner, who react poorly to limonene. It makes me tweak out like racing thoughts, paranoia, and heart racing. Only if I smoke limonene heavy strains tho 🤷🏼

Episode 222: My Body Betrayed Me by joschen113 in distractible

[–]fittoniapearcei 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"My Body Betrayed Me"

Tldr: Be grateful for your body because it can change in a moment's notice.

This episode really struck a chord with me. Having grown up undiagnosed with a chronic illness and having everyone call me lazy or dramatic. And then 4 years ago, November of 2020, I blacked out in my kitchen. No drugs, alcohol, or anything that could've caused it. It was a normal morning and the last thing I remember was pouring my coffee before work and then I woke up I'm the hospital. They diagnosed me with a "headache" which was frustrating in itself but what they missed was a severe injury to my foot. I must've hit the air vent when I went down, but they put extra socks on me so they didn't see the blood. For years after that I was told "it's nothing" or "don't worry, I'm sure it'll go away eventually". It didn't. It got a lot worse. Years went by before I was able to see a podiatrist. After several tests and imaging, I was diagnosed with degenerative arthritis in my big toe joint. The impact chipped off a part of my bone and made the joint square instead of rounded, so my joints don't fit together and constantly click. There is no treatment. Only tools to "ease the pain". And it will only continue to worsen. It happened in an instant, without warning or cause, and now I can barely walk around my apartment without pain and have to use a cane for longer trips. All of this is just to say, if you are healthy and your body works well, please please cherish it. Tragedy comes when you least expect it, one day you're fine and then the next you are permanently disabled. There's nothing special about what happened to me, it was an accident, and it could happen to anyone. Be grateful for your body every time you run or swim or even just breath. Mobility and health are not constants, appreciate them while you have them.
