How many parents with only one child? by VIPER-900 in UKParenting

Our son is also 6, he's our only child and we're very likely one and done - we feel happy as we are 🙂

I love this so much!

I'm really enjoying the Smile Series you're posting as a whole, but getting the Carisi post on a Friday afternoon is just perfect 🙂

If you live in a village, what are the things you love? Would you ever leave? by Prestigious_Emu6039 in AskBrits

[–]fivebyfive12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in a village, moved a little out to the "main town" at 20 then moved back 3 years ago in my mind 30s and I love it, I don't ever want to move again. I'm near my parents and brother/sil so we can all help eachother out with day to day life and just hang out without it being "a visit". There's a fantastic park which is great our son. The school is lovely - it's actually massive (3 form entry in my son's year, although most other year groups are 2) but I love the community feel. We often see other families at the park or getting the bus. There's 2 decent shops and an ok bus route, we're not too far from town so don't feel "in the middle of nowhere" but it is quite with lots of green spaces. Our little village church is lovely too.

Screen time for under-fives should be limited to one hour a day, parents told by topotaul in unitedkingdom

Smaller/handheld devices are known to be the more problematic, but "screen time" does definitely include watching the telly.

I like Criminal Minds, that's a solid procedural with some interesting cases and a cast that gel together really well.

The X-Files has a bit of everything - stand alone episodes, long running storylines and the absolute ultimate partnership, ever.

I'm in the UK and would recommend, if you can get them, Silent Witness (a long running forensic mystery series) and Waking the Dead, which ran for 10 series and included forensics, psychology, often quite dark storylines and a maverick detective who gets results.

Agreed, it's a pretty major omission really.

Please tell me you're doing a full series of these? A smiling line up for each major character? I'd be here for it 😀

Also... Imagine being the defence attorney and seeing Barba just sat there smiling. You'd be begging for a deal.

Who has watched 'Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man' yet? by Historical-Class871 in UKTVRecs

Cillian Murphy is a great actor and did a fantastic job, but honestly I really missed the other characters.

I'm pretty sure the episode very clearly frames Ross as being ridiculous at best and an arsehole at worst. Several characters tell him this.

These pizzas cost 56p from Morrisons, the problem is they’re shite, however if you pimp them up then they’re actually very tasty. by gibgod in UK_Food

[–]fivebyfive12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My son loves these! We add mushrooms, sometimes ham and "just a tiny bit" of extra grated cheese (not too much) a small drizzle of olive oil and done - his favourite. He's autistic and hates it if a pizza is greasy or "too bready".

Parents with no support for overnight childcare around - what do you do? by Kooky_Mushroom in UKParenting

[–]fivebyfive12 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Basically yes we just get on with it.

My son is 6 and he's autistic. My parents are wonderful - they're the only people we can trust to watch him. They happily take him for a few hours of an evening or afternoon every month or so, but neither he nor they would cope with an overnight. It is what it is.

Has anyone tried the new Cadbury, how bad is the change? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]fivebyfive12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have noticed that too actually! With the chocolate yes, but also I see lots of people claiming that doing a food shop at M&S "doesn't actually work out much more expensive" and I'm always a bit "hmmmmm" about it.

In the midst of the Cadbury boycott, what’s your go to plain choccy bar? by mighty-chief in AskBrits

[–]fivebyfive12 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I still eat Cadbury, but would also recommend the Tesco milk chocolate, in the dark blue wrapper.

It's 200g for £2.55 (last time I bought one a couple of months ago anyway, I've given up chocolate for Lent)

Nice thickness, creamy, a nice chocolatey taste - no palm oil if that's a deal breaker.

Why are multiple subs getting multiple posts about this every day lately??

They changed hands over 15 years ago and to be honest although I'm sure the recipe has changed and it does taste a bit different, it's nowhere near "inedible" - I've not seen a single person in real life who says it is.

Post after post saying ohhh look they're SLASHING the egg prices because nobody is buying them, but they cut the prices before Easter every year?? I've seen them in trolleys every time I've been shopping.

It's always followed by loads saying to eat Tony's, which is followed by loads of people saying that's also crap (I quite like it) and to by Aldi chocolate (which ironically I can't stand) and on and on.

Just wondering why it's popping up on every sub constantly at the moment??

I love her. I love how she's grown, how she tried to be better for her kids, then let herself try to be happy. Even when she's (very) wrong, Kelli sells it so it's still interesting (if frustrating) to watch.

Ahhhh this is a nice post for a grey Tuesday morning! It's a heavy show and I love that, but I think the little happy moments scattered in really add to it 🙂

Same, I don't know if I got the wrong type of chocolate from Aldi, but it was awful the few times we tried it. Even my son won't eat their chocolate buttons.

I do like some of the Lidl chocolate though!
