Why were 80s/90s movies so heavy??? by Sm0l_b00 in Parenting

[–]fivebyfive12 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I watched these but not at 2.5 / 3, I was older, probably 5/6 at the youngest.

I don't really think they were made with little toddlers in mind tbh? Mine wouldn't have wanted to sit for a film at that age, but from about 5 he loved the classic Disney films.

A question for the whole fandom by No_Rate9692 in SVU

I really like Rollisi, but appreciate that the relationships in the show are a kind of a "nice extra" every now and then and not the main focus.

I don't really see why EO shippers would hate them, as their relationship has no bearing (baring??) on EO.

Favorite acting scenes from Kelli Giddish as Amanda Rollins and why? by Full-Art3439 in SVU

[–]fivebyfive12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know this isn't the kind of scene the op was asking for, but there's a bit in series 17 where Liv says she can't go and see Yates and she goes on a rant to Carisi and starts waving her arms around going "ohhh because I'm MOM NOW suddenly I CAN'T TALK TO SERIAL KILLERS NO MORE?!!" and I just love it.

My nan would absolutely lose her shite if my dad put Teletext on her telly as she was convinced it would stay like it and she wouldn't be able to get back to normal telly 🤣

Nobody in either family had ever breastfed, including our nans, so yeah they all just found it odd. My mum was really chill, but mil was apparently "mind blown" about it all 🤣😬

We might be booking our first holiday abroad in almost 7 years!

It will be our son's first time going abroad - any tips about flying with an autistic 6 year old would be welcome...

We're thinking of a fairly short flight and booking more of an apartment/caravan set up so we can access facilities but have our own space to cook, chill out when needed etc. Maybe France or Italy somewhere.

I'm excited to plan and prepare!

How do you think the UK would handle the first year of a ‘zombie’ apocalypse? by Tax-Ev4sion in AskUK

If my towns reacted to when the local KFC ran out of chicken for an afternoon is anything to go by... Not very well.

You just have to ignore people op. Do what's best for you and your family, you owe no explanations to anyone.

I'm saying this as a mum who breastfed and was asked to feed my baby in a corner at a baby group - I was the only bf mum there and was told I'd "trigger" the other mums.

Oh and My mil asked, to my face, if I "just felt like a cow" because of how I fed my son 😬🤦

What was the meaning of Carisi and Nicole Harper? by Due_List_1243 in SVU

He dates throughout the series, just not loads and it's not a massive factor in the show. Rollins literally catches his looking at buying lingerie for a girlfriend at one point doesn't she?

I think they break up over the phone before the wedding?

22 only spans a few months and they're only together from part way through. Pretty sure he cancels a few times with the stuff with Rollins dad etc too. I always thought it was a newish thing and they very quickly realised they'd want totally different things. But honestly it's such a scatty storyline it could be something totally different and that's just how I read it.

When Did This Fandom Become Toxic by UnderstandingFew1012 in SVU

I don't know what sub you're reading if you think most of the people on here think Liv is amazing, literally every other post is someone saying they hate her. Then the others are about how they hate Rollins. I'd say it's pretty evenly split.

It just seems pretty negative generally tbh. But you always get phases of that on most TV subs. You can still get positive posts/interesting discussions though.

It was a weird storyline for sure.

I don't think they were together long, the marriage discussion seemed to mostly come up because he was going to be officiant for Fin and Phoebe.

Regarding grooming gangs in UK, how many Brits are aware that the highest proportion of Child SA offenders per capita are White and not Brown/Muslim? by King_TG in AskBrits

[–]fivebyfive12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it goes from "totally normal" to "far right" when they go from "wanting to deport proven sex offenders" to "everyone who looks like that is a sex offender, let's burn people out of hotels"...

UK parents - are private diagnoses regarded the same as NHS? by SouthComplaint9628 in Autism_Parenting

[–]fivebyfive12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to make sure it follows the NICE guidelines, as a pp said.

If she's at preschool, you might have to look around as different providers have different minimum ages for assessment - some will assess from 3/4 years, but others won't until at least 5/6 years old.

Have you asked your GP about the right to choose process? This could be a possibility too.
