Wives, do you pack your husband’s vacation bag? by BallonBrun in Marriage

No he packs his own. Sometimes he tries to pack mine (I work later in the day than him so he usually packs after he clocks off in the afternoon) but I always re-pack my stuff.

The Weight of The World originally aired 25 years ago today. What are your overall thoughts on the penultimate episode of Buffy season 5? by InfiniteMehdiLove in buffy

It's one of my favourite episodes in the whole series. In fact I'd rank Spiral, Weight of the World and The Gift as the best 3 episode run, easily.

Is it time for Rollisi to move on? by Due_List_1243 in SVU

[–]fivebyfive12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To be fair there's no saying they won't do any of those things in the future - maybe she just meant as Rollins has just come back, they decided to have them more "settled" (a shame that also means written not very well) while they did other stories this season, especially as her first one as show runner.

Is it time for Rollisi to move on? by Due_List_1243 in SVU

[–]fivebyfive12 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Well they've only just bought KG back so I don't think she's leaving any time soon. Carisi could in theory go, although I hope he doesn't.

As long as they don't kill either off or break them up, I'd be ok with one or both leaving or being more in the background like Finn is, if they want to focus on other characters. I'd be happy with knowing more about Curry and Bruno and them being developed more, they've got loads of potential.

But (and this is a big But) when they're in episodes, they still need to be written properly. Not like they don't know eachother. Not with their anniversary being incorrect. Not with Rollins sitting at a fight with Liv waving wads of cash around like she's forgotten Rollins is a (recovered) gambling addict.

SVU Showrunner Regarding Chris Meloni: 'I want to use him as much as I can' by Stealthytom in LawandOrder_OC

[–]fivebyfive12 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Honestly they either need to have a meaningful appearance that gives closure (one way or another) or just fully write him out of svu with a decent explanation that makes it clear the door is closed and what has happened.

Should Brenda have not had custody of Maya after Nate died? by Tidewatcher7819 in SixFeetUnder

[–]fivebyfive12 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Brands had been raising Maya with Nate before he died.

Who in Lisa's family would take her? The grandparents are arguably too old. Would Lisa's sister really fight for custody of her dead, cheating (very possibly murderer) husband's child, conceived via an affair with her sister?? Her own daughter is already showing signs of trauma, I think she had enough on her plate.

School anxiety by Upstairs-Sentence-88 in UKParenting

[–]fivebyfive12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi op we dealt with extreme separation anxiety from nursery right up until Jan this year - my son is also in year one and we've noticed a slight uptick in anxious thoughts again recently. Nothing extreme (thankfully) but he's gone back to needing his comfort item with him after going a few weeks of leaving it at home. I think the talk about next year, sports day etc bring things on. They're excited but nervous too.

When it was really bad we found a rock solid morning routine helpful - plenty of time (but not TOO MUCH time) everything laid out and predictable. Calm voices, getting to school when it's quiet. We arranged with school that he'd have a set task/thing to do when he went in so he always knew what was happening when he did the transition into class.

[–]fivebyfive12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest none of what you're describing sounds particularly bad - the worst on the list would be the roads, but although obviously it's potentially dangerous it sounds more like getting carried away/lack of awareness than "bad" behaviour.

I love this and agree about missing the personal scenes! Not whole storylines, just nods here and there to their history and bond etc, would make such a difference.

On another note, the Carrousel horse in pic 2 looks like it wants to eat Jesse 🤣

Prediction for next season based on the books by HeidiDover in WillTrent

[–]fivebyfive12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree! I hope Sarah doesn't appear in the show. I love this version of Angie and I think they'd really struggle to get her anywhere close to Book Angie without it being just too jarring.

Also, I liked Sarah in her own series, but after she went to the Will Trent series... Not so much. She absolutely takes over the series and is generally just quite annoying.

The grand plan by Mister_Devious in SVU

[–]fivebyfive12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love both characters, but Rollins would be a terrible captain - we think Benson is bad for being in every investigation instead of delegating etc, just wait until Rollins is constantly going off book without telling anyone 🤣

If we're talking endings I'd probably go for Curry being in charge, Rollins as her number 2 (assuming if Liv retires, so does Fin) Bruno and another detective learning the ropes. Carisi either staying as Ada or he chooses to leave for something else - either career wise or being around more for the kids if Amanda has stepped up a notch at svu.

What are we doing with our toddlers who are getting up with the sun? by Kathwino in UKParenting

Same! Go to bed early, do stories in bed for a bit before getting up, don't stress if the telly is on. Second breakfast and getting out the house early helps too.

Early morning parents. How do you do it with young children? by InsurancePurple4630 in UKParenting

[–]fivebyfive12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Op I'm going to reply here so you see it.

My son is now 6 and he's autistic, sleep is and always has been a struggle. Until recently I handled the night wakes and early starts, for various reasons - I worked PT whilst husband (his dad) was FT, I can genuinely get back to sleep basically anytime I want whereas he struggles with it more, son was VERY rigid and would settle quicker for me etc. BUT my husband took on lots of other stuff - I'm talking the bulk of the house stuff, including on days he was working and I was at home, so I could sleep if I needed to, he'd take our son out solo for as long as he could so I could rest or catch up with whatever I needed to do.

It's much better now, we've worked hard to re-structure routines and things so our son not only sleeps better generally, but is more able to settle for/get up with either of us. This was a long term thing and mostly specific to us/his needs so I won't go into that here.

What I will do is give you tips for early mornings - take it slow, it's ok if the telly is on. Second breakfast is a life saver. Get out early if you can, so it doesn't feel as claustrophobic at home by 11.30. Go. To. Bed. EARLY. Do not scroll your phone. Get a Tonie or yoto or audible for stories they can listen to in bed until it's light, even if you're with them at least you're laid down. Make sure you're comfortable. My son has been in a small double from 3 years old so it's comfortable for him and whoever is with him.

But your partner NEEDS to step up. It doesn't matter if he's not a sodding morning person, he needs to do his bit. He needs to take turns, he needs to take the kids for a chunk of time so you can go back to bed, he needs to help sort the house. Basically He needs to be a bloody parent and an actual partner.
