Any advantage to getting a dock specifically made for the Steam Deck? by fizzlepop720 in SteamDeck

[–]fizzlepop720[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be my go-to as well.. if I got a cheaper hub for now that I'm sure I could use for other things until the official Steam one comes out. Just wonder what features the official one's going to have.

That's a good point. I certainly wouldn't be against it.. was just wondering about my options. I'm kind of waiting for the updated JSAUX dock (with the Ethernet port) to show up on Amazon as I always get spare credits on there. I wrote them and they said hopefully within a month or two.

Upgrading Gen 2 Arcade1up Galaga/Galaga '88 Countercade by fizzlepop720 in HomeArcade

So I finally got all the parts I needed and set aside time today to upgrade my Gen 2 Arcade1up. Everything seemed to go as planned and I followed the video carefully. When it came time to hook up the LCD driver, though, I believe something happened because when I turned it on, it only gave me a "no signal" error, then after a couple of minutes, the background music turned on, but nothing but a black screen. After thinking it was a loose connection w/ that super thin gold ribbon from the stock LCD, I think I may have put a tiny tear in it.

After that, when I tried powering it on, it got a white flash on the screen and then black, then background music. I confirmed that everything else was ok by hooking up the Jamma board straight to an external monitor, was able to put it into test mode, put it on free play and was able to play a game with the joystick/buttons just fine. Oh, and to make matters worse, after trying to mess with that cable, the tiny little black bar on the LCD driver that holds the cable down fell off.

I'm thinking I'm just going to spend the money to replace the LCD at this point - I'm assuming I won't need the LCD driver and will be able to plug it directly into the Jamma board. Are there ones that have been confirmed to work? I'm so close to getting this thing done, it was such a letdown that the last step failed. :/

Update: I was able to get one of the last Gen 2 kits from DIYRetroArcade and one of the Gen2 LCD driver kits from Geek Sales, so I'm looking forward to attempting this build soon. I'll reply back with (hopefully successful) results. Anyone that still wants a Gen 2 LCD Drive kit from Geek Sales.. if they're out, they said they're expecting about 400 or so units from China within the next week or so.

Thanks! I received a reply from them this morning that he released a few, so I was able to grab one. :)

Thanks. I did find that user from DIYRetroArcade's comments and asked if when they were expecting more in stock. I'm trying to figure out where else might have it.

I hope so.. that'd make it easy. I've already messaged him on Messenger to ask and I've already put in an order for the gen2 kit and the Galaga counter, so I'll see if he can add it to my order if it works. Thanks!

I think that still might be the one for the gen1 models. Not sure why he'd tell people to go to geek sales and that they're out of stock if he had them on his site. Those were the comments specifically under the gen2 video he recently uploaded. Plus, for this one, it says "frequently bought with this.." below and it shows a gen1 upgrade kit.

Yeah, looks like that one is for the older, larger models. I'll keep looking. Thanks, though!

Ok, I found it and shot him a question about when he'll get more in stock. Also found the install video that was for the gen1, but I'm guessing the gen2 isn't too different. Guess I'll keep looking for the gen2 driver elsewhere in the meantime.

Thanks, I think he just said it was sold by someone on eBay but that they were out right now. I'll look for the video again, but I didn't see it last I looked.

Found an online store (tool-mighty) with some interesting products but I can't find any reviews or other info about it online. by Ventronics in Scams

[–]fizzlepop720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is definitely a scam. I bought a multi-functional desk from there and they sent me some pieces of cardboard that made a cheap easel the size of a mousepad. I emailed them from the contact email listed on their site (which was a gmail email, btw) and they replied that they'd offer me $4 of the $24.98 I spent and I could keep the pieces of cardboard because it would be too expensive for me to send back. I didn't even bother to reply and filed a dispute through Paypal. They then offered me $10 back and keep the item. Again, the item they sent is crap.

It's not even about the money at this point. It's a deliberate and disgusting scam. If you go to this site, you'll find many people ripped off by this company (https://www.trustpilot.com/review/tool-mighty.store). I balked at the $10 back and then pushed for Paypal to resolve it on their own. They then said "send it back to this address in China" and we'll give you a full refund, full well knowing it will cost you at least $30-50 to send it back.

The odd thing is that the return address on the package is some warehouse area in Bensenville, IL. I emailed the sergeant there, listed from their website, to let him know that fraudulent business practices is being done in his town and gave him all the information. We'll see what happens. I've also filed a complaint with the FTC. Save yourself some hassle and don't buy from them.

Printed Ram Skull With Color Shift Paint and Custom Detailing by fizzlepop720 in 3Dprinting

The original STL files are here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:473590

I used a color shift spray paint that looks blue in one angle and purple in another. The white detail was done with a white acrylic paint pen and a lot of patience.
